We live in Southern Walk Broadlands and our house is not yet two years old.
The other day I saw some minor cracks in the James Hardie siding on one side of the house. These are minor cracks definitely not big ones. Was wondering whether this type of work is covered under any warranty through the builder ( we are done with our one year inspection) or structural warranty, or am I on my own for getting this fixed.

I would like to address these issues before the cracks become bigger and cause more damage down the road.

    Thanks
    Sandeep

I seriously doubt VM would care about your siding. They drilled holes in our siding (as opposed to using the wood door trim) to install a "safety" gate on the patio door where the deck would have been. So when we got the deck built, the holes were really noticeable, not to mention a haven for bee hives. They said they wouldn't replace those small pieces of siding since it wasn't a warranty issue...even though the siding needed fixing because of them.

Yes I agree with you that VM probably is not going to do anything about it. But I did call customer care and they told me that I should contact James Hardie directly so I called in they are going to send me some claim forms which I have to fill and provide 12 pictures ( yes 12)of the damage from various angles at which point they will assess the claim and make the decision. I am not sure how I am going to take 12 pictures of the crack all from different angles. In any event I will fill the forms and send them some pictures.
I have a gut feeling that James Hardie will come back saying that it was not installed properly by the builder hence they cannot do anything and that the builder has to fix it, passing the buck on to the builder. Even if that is true god only knows what nighmare I will have to go through to get anything done by VM especially now that we are out of one year warranty period by the builder.
Will keep the forum posted as to what happens. I am not too optimistic though.
