    Genco and others--

Recently someone asked me for some information regarding Orange Juice and the sugar content and the additives that food companies adds to juice products. Here are some interesting articles and web sites with links for reading if anyone is curious. Also, Stevia is a natural plant-based sweetener that is far better than some of the "fake" or artificial sweeteners. Stevia can be found in all forms at grocers, natural food stores, and Whole Foods Markets.

Also. High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is found in almost every drink (i.e. including milk--chocolate milk at McDonalds, sodas, and other drinks). So reading food labels is also important. If you wish any other food and nutrition information of reading food labels, books, etc.--just PM and I will respond by PM with resource lists, etc. HFCS is added by food companies for "extra sugar for sweetening" foods that are naturally sweet and is not really necessary. Studies are indicating that with all the food marketing that companies are adding HFCS and may result in childhood obesity issues. HFCS is really not necessary in some foods/drinks.

Thanks for your kind remarks. Yes, juice is "sugary". Another tip regarding sugar intake--not only for yourself (or adults--and kids)--use a brand of sugar Florida Crystals for ALL your drinks and baking needs. Stevia is another plant-based sweetener that you can use also.

Florida Crystals is sold in the bakery aisles of grocery stores and natural food stores--Whole Foods Market is one example. Sugar that is white is "BLEACHED" to have that "WHITE" color. Since raw sugar is naturally brown--food processors will actually bleach the sugar.

You also order Florida Crystals online at below web site. I like the Florida Crystals brand because it is packaged an "easy-pour" canister and recyclable container. Various sizes are available.

Florida Crystals and Stevia info and web site links are below--

www.floridacrystals.com (Florida Crystals Sugar products web site and info.)

www.wisdomnaturalbrands.com (Wisdom Natural Brands is a parent company that specializes in Stevia products and has alot of online information about Stevia. Online ordering also.)

www.sweetleaf.com (Wisdom Natural Brands product--one of several Stevia products--the sweetleaf stevia is the sweetest and most often preferred. More info on web site and links information available.)

    Foodie,

Thanks again for the links, I just recently came across a bottled tea from the Honest Tea company that was delicious and only had 5 grams of sugar per 8 ounces compared to 22+ for other bottled tea.

Yes, I know about Honest Tea products. Better teas and one of the first USDA Certified tea products. The founders of the Honest Tea Company started in Bethesda, MD. Still growing strong and ample funds invested recently.

If you wish more information on Honest Tea or other beverages--feel free to ask. Whole Foods Markets carries their full line of Honest Tea products. Try the tea bags also.

Whole Foods Market in Fairfax, VA is well worth the trip--beats Wegmans "hands down"!
