Anyone use someone to treat their lawn for weeds or maintenance? We have dead sod - builder laid it during no rain in hot end of June. We just moved in two days ago and I guess it is now up to us to try and save the sod or pay to have more installed.

    Anyone?

Your lawn is part of your home, and they should take care of the lawn like anything else. If you call the VM customer service, they will take care of it.

Are you the family just moved in to the Spuce on the Milford?

No we are on Inglewood and will address the fact that our lawn care expert came out and found that no topsoil was laid - and they will need to regrade our backyard and several neighbors because drainage is not getting to the drain.

We just moved into our house on Inglewood, too. My wife called VM about similar dead sod in our yard. Apparently, several homeowners have issues -- VM told my wife that they put us on an existing list of people with sod issues. At some point (timing is unclear), they will send around their sod people to look at each yard on the list and make corrections, if necessary.

Speckhard -- You mentioned that a lawn care expert told you that no topsoil was laid under the sod. Should there be a layer of black dirt under the sod? Our yard doesn't appear to have that. Instead, I can see a natural red dirt/clay under our sod.

If you are on left side on Inglewood (looking down the street from Ridgeway) there is a sod issue in several of the backyards. Our lawn person said we have no topsoil - the rocks, and crap you see should also not be there. They laid all the sod directly onto clay. The lawn guy said he had no idea why someone would do that.

VM said they laid all sod like that - no topsoil. We have a number of dead bushes as well. Not to mention that the backyard should drain past our house, to our neighbors where they have an actual drain there. Instead, in our far left corner we have a swampy mess and it looks like the same happened to the neighbor on the otherside one over from us too. We have asked VM to regrade the backyard, and redo the sod and trees. They are sending someone out tomorrow to look at the sod and regrading. We were told the plants can be replaced at the 60 day walkthru. Will keep you posted if we hear more on this tomorrow.

We're on the other side of Inglewood and definitely have the same topsoil issue. There are rocks all over the place and we can see the clay in areas where the sod strips don't meet.

If you have wide areas all over - you will have weeds that will destroy the sod and will need someone like chem lawn to maintain the weed control. Not to mention that they have run the drainage right through part of our yard - so that the back half slopes up - while the nicer houses back up nicely without the slope. We have a marsh at the end of our yard and now they have flattened another of the houses behind us (we think owners complained about slope) and their yard is now almost 2 feet higher. We are asking for complete regrade of the back yard and new sod. The sod they put in was not even rolled. This is the worst work I have seen yard wise.
