Hi everybody. I'm new to the forum (and to the area) but I thought I'd start a thread on local happy hours. Who's got the best deals in town? I'll add any of my findings in the next few days.

Too bad there isn't one for a few miles.

I've been to the Rock Bottoms in Seattle, Portland, Denver and Boston and never been thrilled with their beer. Do you like it, skull?

Cliff -- we should have a HH at Dominion... I like those prices! February, perhaps?

I like a good amount of their brews. Some of them are so-so, but most of them seem pretty good.

IMHO they are two times better than Old Dominion has been after OD was bought out by Coastal Brewing(Amhs. Busch/Fordham)

i'm getting the word that it is illegal to advertise alcohol specials online which is why you never see happy hour info on the websites of our local bars!

i'm trying to reach ABC now to see if a forum like thisw or like mine would violate this rule... we don't want to get anyone in trouble... stay tuned.

I think that only the establishments are not allowed to advertise. But I think private citizens can share the info they find out. They have a bunch of websites for happy hours in DC and Arlington, kind of like blogs.

The state does take off Friday for Lee Jackson Memorial Day and Monday for MLK Day. Loudoun Cty Government is one of the few remaining localities that also takes the Friday holiday as well, from what I recall.

Ohh I hope that is untrue! The thought of "the state" telling me I can't share this kind of info with my virtual buddies is scary! It seems unfair for the businesses! They can advertise food specials but not drinks! Too big brother for me...

ok folks- straight from ABC- the establishment itself CANNOT provide Happy Hour alcohol prices over the phone, in print or online.

BUT- as residents and patrons, we can post the specials if we have actually gone to the place and seen the info inside of the bar. so my phone campaign to get info won't work since they cannot legally tell me their alcohol specials.

whew- i was with you Maureen- big bro telling me i can't discuss alcohol prices?!?

SO.post what you have experienced and don't call the bars for info! HAPPY HOUR HOSTS, just invite us to come in- share your food specials but not your alcohol prices...
