Looking for new experiences and food that doesn't suck. Any thoughts on these Sterling joints?

I like Logan's. The service can be hit or miss but the food is good and they offer actual vegetables, which is a nice change from the norm. I've never had horrible service, just sometimes slow. Not a good place for people with peanut allergies since they have peanuts at all the tables and shells on the floor. I like it when I'm in the mood for "American" food. The yeast rolls are fabulous! Good for kids.

Ted's Montana Grill is good if you want a slightly different type of meat - they offer buffalo and other rarities. I don't think they had a kids menu but I'm not sure. I wasn't all that impressed but it wasn't bad.

Famous Dave's is a favorite of my husband's. The food selection is reasonably good; the cornbread muffins and the chocolate pecan pie are especially tasty! Prices are reasonable and the staff is pretty good. I think the whole place recently went non-smoking. Good for kids.

Give them all a try and see what you think. None should be a terrible experience but whether you like it enough to return is up to you.

I think Lonestar has been closed for several months...maybe a year or so.

    ted's montana is on restaurant.com
my kids love it there b/c it has different straws, yummy food, and a diner type bar (shakes, floats, big cookies).
the service is hit or miss. sometimes it is SUPERB and sometimes i wonder why i went. last time there was great. the food is always good and it tastes even better when you use a coupon for $25 off!

Ted's is a very "green" restaurant.

Ted's food is fine, if you're in the area it's a good choice, but don't go out of your way. The worst part is the straws, they're made out of cardboard. Bleck.

I think the two are related.

How long does a plastic straw take to decompose in a landfill?

I have personally banned Logans!! I used to go there quite often but I kept getting hair in my salad (they have a good mesquite grilled chicken salad). I now only go there when work has a farewell luncheon for a co-worker. And believe me, I complete an autopsy on every piece of lettuce while I'm there. Each time I have found a hair (and let's say some of them are questionable) I told management. They were good about it but after you find something like that you don't feel like eating another possible hair salad.

P.S. I also have a few other restaurants that I have banned for various reasons if interested.

Love those straws! One or two might have fallen into my purse!

have to agree on famous daves. Like that place a lot. We also like Bluez Brothers but I think famous daves is better. You get a lot more for you money at famous daves.

For that kind of food, I'd skip the three that you have listed and hit either Original Steakhouse or Sweetwater. Or for a couple of extra sheckles and a little drive, head out to Magnolias in Purcelleville. I almost feel like I'd like to keep this place a secret, though ;)

We ate at Sweetwater a few weeks ago. The food and service were very good but it was definitely more expensive and less casual than Logan's or Famous Dave's. Sweetwater seems more along the lines of Clydes in terms of atomosphere and price but with better food (than Clydes).

I haven't been to the Original Steakhouse in a couple of years to know what they're like these days.

So I am not the only one that feels that the food quality at Clydes has gone down?

Magnolia's is in a class beyond anything in the original post! I agree that Sweetwater and the OS are both better- recently ate at both and both were great.

Gone down, it's always been down? I always thought of Clydes as being average in the food dept. Atmosphere, especially in the Broadlands Clydes - lovely - but food - not so much.

The last three meals I have had at Clydes have not sat well in the ole belly. There might not be a fourth. :(
