I have the most miserable luck. This evening (Sunday) around 9:45pm, Tripod, my 3 legged cat got out. We are located on Wingfoot Court in Southern Walk.

Tripod is caramel colored and white and distinguished that he only has 3 legs. He is also declawed. He is wearing a brown collar.

Please call...he is friendly and would likely come to someone if coaxed or called.

Carol, I'm so sorry. I will take my morning run closer over your way, and will keep an eye out. Will let you know if I spot anything. Hopefully you'll find him soon!

Thanks Christina. I'm feeling kind of devastated. I've had cats all my life and have never lost cats before...and now to lose 2 within 2 months.

Tripod is a feral cat which I rescued and tamed while living in Pakistan. Even though he is 3 legged, he is so smart. He learned how to open doors in our house, including the front door. He sits up on his 2 back paws and then stretches till he loops his one front paw around the door handle, allowing himself to then fall backward bringing the door open as he falls. I had a houseguest last night and forgot to lock the front door behind me when she visited. He opened the door unbeknownest to me while we were visiting. My other 2 cats also went out but at least when I called them, they ran right back in.

We looked for him until almost one in the morning but no luck. I'm going out now to put up flyers.

Carol, I know there aren't too many 3-legged cats out there, but can you give me a description color-wise?

Sure...he is caramel (butterscotch) and white and wearing a brown collar. He's missing one of his front paws so has this unique gait when he walks. Additionally he had surgery in June for a septic abdomen so he has a long scar on his belly. It was so scary as I had just returned from working in Iraq to discover him sick and almost lost him then. He's a fighter, that's for sure!

We are so lucky to live in such a pet-friendly neighborhood. Don't give up hope! In fact, when I was out looking for Tripod last night, a neighbor's outdoor cat followed me around the whole time.

I've got posters circulated around our general area and prepared to put more farther out.

It's so sad...my two remaining housecats are moping around. It's obvious they miss both Tripod and Muffin.

I've got some posters made now of Tripod which includes photos. If anyone cares to receive one please email me and I'm happy to send one. It's too bad there is not a way I can incorporate my poster with photo into a message here on the forum.

Aaaawwww, I am sorry. I think the smells of Fall are very luring for even the indoor kitties. Mine sit at the back door or the family room window almost all day. They love the smells. I will keep a look out for Tripod. Maybe Tripod knows where Muffin is!! You know... cats, they have that extrasensory communication or something...

I agree with you and in Tripod's case, it has always been a challenge to keep him in as he was born in the wild. What I am afraid of is that he might recognize Muffin's scent and take off where I can't find him either!

I am so happy to announce that TRIPOD is back home!!!!!! A neighbor girl spotted him in one of the drainage culverts on our street and ran to get me. As soon as I called his name he responded and crawled out!!!! Yippee!!!!!!

Isn't that the truth! I like to refer to him as "Tripod the wonder cat." I found him in Pakistan after he had been hit by a car and left to die. I thought he was a black cat as he was so dirty and battered. He allowed me to examine him so I bundled him up and took him to what amounted to the equivalent of a vet in Pakistan. The vet told me he could save him but the front leg would have to go. As he was healing I had lined up several American families willing to take him in...but we bonded and I found I could not give him up. I've had him for 5 years now! He's quite the character! :)
