My 8.5 year old Himilayan (looks like a Siamese but with long hair) snuck out somehow. He's male and declawed and answers to the name of Muffin. He has never been outside before and is likely terrified. Please, if anyone sees a cat fitting his description, please call me at 571 276 5490.

I live on Wingfoot Court. I've already combed throughout our Court and also walked through the apartments immediately behind us to no avail.

If anyone spots a cat looking like Muffin, please do not hesitate to call at anytime.

    Thanks!

I'd like to extend my thanks and appreciation to our Broadlands Community. Although we have not found Muffin yet, we really appreciate the calls we have received. Apparently there is another cat who appears to be lost that is grey and white. This cat has been hovering under decks and near homes that also are along the walking path.

If anyone spots Muffin, I don't care what time it is, please do not hesitate to call us...571 223 0879 or 571 276 5490

A neighbor of mine lost a large gray and white cat. Let me check with her and see if she's found her cat yet.

My spouse and I have been walking the walking trail behind our house at various times to include quite late when it's quiet in the hopes that if Muffin is around, he'd be more willing to come out of hiding then. That's when we noticed the gray and white cat; this one has been hiding underneath a bbq in one of the backyards that is also right behind the walking trail.

I've posted flyers all around for Muffin as well as notifying the Loudoun County Animal Shelter and Fancy Cats of Herndon. If anyone has additional suggestions I'd be appreciative.

Muffin Update: Again I want to thank everyone for their show of support in assisting me to find Muffin. The bad news is that he is still out there somewhere so I wanted to provide some further info that hopefully will help in getting him back home.

He disappeared from our Wingfoot Court residence on 12 August. As luck would have it, since he had been recently groomed, I had not yet put his collar back on him which does have his name and identifying info. At the time of his disappearance, we were having a deck built on our home so I'm sure all the outside noise around the house frightened him even more. Then as everyone knows, we felt the effects of that blasted hurricane Charley which probably made him flee even further astray.

Yes, if you have noticed the flashlights along the walking trail at midnight or later, that is only my spouse and I doing one of our nighttime walks searching for him. I thought that since it's quieter then, our voices would carry and maybe he'd respond to us.

I'd like to think that since he has never been out in his life, he'd stick close to home; ie, along the walking trail or maybe over to the Southern Walk apartments. But, does anyone really know how a cat thinks?

Normally Muffin is not a shy cat. He's one of those whose the first to demand his rightful attention and believed everyone came to the house specifically to see him rather than a mere mortal. He adores people and if one is lucky, he'll jump in your lap to give you one of his famous stomach massages with his little declawed paws or alternatively, he'll lay in the middle of the floor on his back with his paws in the air and look at you beseechingly with those big blue eyes to rub his belly!

We have distributed and/or put up 300 posters to include the Giant & Safeway shopping centers; notified Animal Control as well as Fancy Cats Organization. If anyone has any further suggestions, we would love to hear him. We want to get him back into the family fold.

Again, call anytime if you have spotted him:
    571 223 0879 or 571 276 5490

    Thanks!

I have seen your posters. I hope you find your kitty.
Maybe bring some of his favorite toys or food next time you are out walking. I am sure he will recognise your voices but anything at this point would be helpful.
    We have been looking too.

Have you put food outside for Muffin? Just a thought?

    What about water?

I sure have! Ever since he has been gone our garage has been open with his bed, food and water in it. I've also put some food out near the house too.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

Muffin is still at large. )-: However I did receive a call today from someone who thought they had spotted Muffin. After we were speaking though, it turned out the cat was actually a gray and white cat. The caller told me this cat was hovering under a bush near the beginning of the walking trail (by Clairborne Parkway and down from the Southern Walk apartments). This is actually almost behind my house so I did go out and look but did not see any cat. I did leave some food though for this kitty. If this gray and white kitty shows itself, I'll take it in to my garage. Again, call at anytime if anyone believes they have spotted Muffin. 571 223 0879 or 571 276 5490.

I received a call today (24 August) from a teen who gave an accurate description of Muffin around the Eagle Ridge Middle School. I went there and searched for about an hour but no luck. If anyone lives in that area, I'd appreciate if they could keep a look out for him.

If he is spotted, I think if one person were to approach him quietly and softly saying his name, he may come. But if more than one person approaches, he would likely get scared and run off.

Another key way to get his attention is to have some food in a cup, say his name, then say the word "food" and "look."

I saw something smooshed on the road with black/white fur this morning on Claiborne/after Waxpool before Vestals Gap. It was 5:30am so it might not have been those specific colors.....:(

Well...I will go and investigate and hope it is a skunk.

I have Muffin's kitty carrier in our backyard near the wooded area by the trail and have been putting food and water in it each night. Last night we had a piece of leftover bbq turkey and something ate it. However, I don't think it was Muffin. But...not giving up hope!

My spouse and I checked out the carnage and it looked more like a squirrel than a skunk. Thank goodness it was not Muffin.

I am sorry you had to take a look even. I almost did not want to say anything but I am glad it was only a skunk.
