    all,

i was driving on wynridge at around 8:15 this morning and saw a hound/beagle laying in the grassy area on the side of the road (almost directly opposite callaloo). i pulled over, but he was skidish and ran into the woods before i could get to him. i believe he's a hound or beagle of some sort. he was eating someone's mcdonalds leftovers. is anyone missing a dog like this? i have gone back twice but haven't seen him since.

hopefully this helps someone that may have lost their pup! i will keep a lookout too.

    thanks,
    christina

I saw him there yesterday also. His coloring is white & camel rather than the dark browns & blacks you'd normally think of.

I did not notice a collar.

I saw him there as well....and he ran back into the woods. This was around 5/24. I'm sure he gets plenty of fresh water and a little bath from the new BROADLANDS sign nearby.

My husband saw the dog yesterday and tried to coax it, but it took off. According to the houses at the location where the dog was seen, the dog is a Katrina-dog lost up here and is very frightened. And he can hop fences.

Does he look skinny or ill? Does anyone leave him food in the area he's roaming? Maybe he has a home and the owners allow him/her to roam. Has anyone called animal control yet?

...for the past week I have left food and water for him each morning - hoping consistant contact will make him want to come closer.

This morning he got steak from our dinner last night and a BIG bag of ice (due to the heat).

Hubby called AC last week about the dog.

...yesterday around 5:30AM he came about 3 feet from me - because I was droppping of boneless skinless steamed chicken.

This morning around 5AM he sat down a few feet from me and waited for me to unpack the steak - but something spooked him.

Tomorrow I am going to bring Jo Jo my beagle mix with me (she was also a stray and we adopted 6 years ago) and see if we can coax him out.

Just worried with the dog w/ the crazy temps and storms - plus I have a thing for stray dogs - ask my hubby:devil2:

I saw him yesterday around 5pm. I got out to see if he would come to me and the poor thing ran into the woods. I tried to coax him with some dinner I'd bought but I think he was just to scared. I called AC yesterday and they said they would send someone out to look for him in that grassy area. I expressed great concern for him due to the extreme temps this weekend. I'm going to go back today and leave some food and ice cubes for him. Hopefully AC or someone in our community can catch him and return this little guy to his owners.

Can they set a trap? Or would they risk trapping all the woodland creatures?

Traps would entice the other furry little woodland creatures as well. We set one up for our dog when he was missing and we ended up catching a raccoon. I think the trap would only work if you knew EXACTLY where he was going to be at certain times of the day. For example, if he's been seen at dusk in the HOA yard consistently, then a trap might work. A trap left somewhere he's been seen once wouldn't. IMO.

Does anyone know who the owners are, I read that he/she is a Katrina dog?

Has anyone seen the dog over the weekend? I'm hoping he found a nice cool water source to chill in during the excessive heat.

I contacted Lost Dog Rescue. They have a trap that can be borrowed. I would have to be checked every few hours.

Another alternative is to contact Loudoun Animal Control.

Anyone have an update on the wandering hound? Was he captured by animal control?
