Two of the shift brewers from Dominion Brewery (Favio and Matt) are opening a micro-brewery in Ashburn. It's called Lost Rhino and it's going to be located at 21730 Red Rum Drive, Suite 142. They are finishing up with getting final inspections and plan to start brewing in the next couple weeks. I understand that they purchased some of their equipment from Dominion Brewery. The first two beers they plan to offer are a Pilsner and New River Pale Ale. Any VT grads out there may remember this beer. It was developed by a VT grad and has a pretty interesting story behind it. I believe they have plans for root beer and other sodas as well as seasonal beer offerings.

Lost Rhino has been hosting an open house the last couple months so folks can come in and see their progress. It's the first Wednesday of every month so it will be the beginning of March before they have another. After they're open and running they have plans to expand from a "tasting room" to a brew pub. They'll sell kegs and fill growlers at first with plans to bottle at some point too. Hopefully they get the community support that they are hoping for. I guess the proof will be in the pudding.

Edit: Just saw the 28North post below. This is the same brewery but they had to change their name due to a copyright dispute. Apparently some band near Pittsburg has the the name 28North.

They've actually brewed a beer that was sold at Vintage 50 in Leesburg last summer.

Yeah, if I recall correctly it was the Pilsner.

I am so used to seeing "Lost Dog/Cat/etc" I thought someone had lost a Rhino! But I am very pleased to see the word 'brewery' there.

i am looking forward to a microbrew, and can't wait to try them out.
