Anyone else a member of World Gym who is a little miffed at them still not opening either of the new gyms? I know there is one in Leesburg but that short distance is a long drive for the times I can make the gym.
It has been 5+ months and I haven't stepped into thier gym but have been stuck paying. They claim they won't let me out of my contract since the Leesburg gym is open.
Anyone in the same boat with better luck?

I drive by the one in Ashburn and it looks like it still will be a while before it opens. The building was still empty the last time I checked it out.

The origional gym was on the corner of 28 and Church St. It closed Dec. 27. The two new gyms - one will be across from MCI in that business center (went by today and they are finally starting to frame walls...will be much smaller), and another somewhere near Dulles mall.

We have had excellent experience at Worldgate (same bldg as the theaters), we've been members at the Sports and Health center for almost 6 yrs now; the commute is about the same, in fact shorter I believe compared with Rt 28/Sterling area (12-15 minutes via toll) and has every available amenity we desire: Free Childcare including infants, full indoor heated pool, raquetball, massage, multitude of weight/aerobic equipment and classes, basketball courts, tennis....the cost may be steeper but is reasonable IMHO given the access and amenities. the golds in ashburn is one light east of ashburn village blvd and rt 7. Its over by where that harris tweeter is now being built. Its in the office park.

There also one at clocktower in sterling and one in herndon.

If I may ask, how much does it cost for Nexthealth? Their website didn't have the info.

I've been anxiously awaiting their Ashburn opening, too! Every time I call they tell me the end of the month...that started in March.

SUNNY - What is Next Health like? What are the fees (registration and monthly)? Thanks.

I agree -- NextHealth is a great gym -- virtually never busy. But, it seems a little pricy. I paid $300 for 6 months ($50 a month), but that doesn't include classes -- those are extra.

The Golds in Ashburn is one of the best Golds around. Looks like there'll be another one in Ashburn coming next year (at Ryan Center, according to the plans), closer to Broadlands.

How's the crowds say 8pm on weekdays at Golds in Ashburn? I was thinking about joining. I used to work out....umm rephase..be a member of World gym for 3 years. But now I want to get back into strength training.

World Gym or Golds? Golds or World Gym?

Based on how World Gym is handling the move and what appears to be a much smaller gym in Ashburn, I'd say Golds. I was a long time member of Golds but didn't know about the one in Ashburn...maybe it's newer than a year old. Plus if they are opening one on Ryan Rd. that would even be better as I'm on the Greenway side of Ashburn.

At 8pm the Golds is very empty. The busiest time for golds is 6-7pm on Mondays. Now, its kinda crowded at that time and you *might* not get the machine you want. But there is so much in there waiting is virtually non-existant.

Every other day the gym has got plenty of room for everyone. If you haven't been in there, just stop by and take a tour its massive. I thought the sterling one was big when I joined, ashburn makes the sterling one feel dinky and old. If they open the other in Ashburn, I'm sure it will be even bigger.

I only pay $32.99 a month.. but that was a bargin. My wife joined and I think she got in for like 34.99

Ditto to all the comments about Ashburn Golds. I've been there for about two years, and even though there are more members than when I first joined, it still is comfortable there -- even at the peak times (5 - 7 pm).

It is one of the cleanest gyms around (so is Herndon Golds). I've been to these, as well as the Golds in Sterling, Clocktower, Ballston, Merrifields, Timonium (MD), and Rehoboth -- and the Ashburn one is the best.
