I just wanted to give some great feedback on a contractor we just used for a project on our house. There always seem to be people that are looking for good referrals.

Some background on our project. We live in a Spruce model with a 2 story family room, which I think is such a waste of space. I had them build a floor to make an extra room on top. I also moved the laundry upstairs into a closet and had them do some other work such as putting in a pocket door downstairs, adding a coffered ceiling and some other electrical work.

From start to finish they did an awesome job. They were great at communicating when they were going to be here and walked me through the whole process. They have an in house architect, which I thought was a huge plus. Especially since the first day when they started tearing into the walls, they found the structure was built differently than they would have thought (Van Metre being cheap). He came right out that first day and drew up new plans, so there was only a one day stop in work.

Most of their contractors work for them so they don't have to work with another companies schedule. The people that came out were very respectful and took great care to protect our furniture, our floors and the rest of our house. Their people were very skilled and have been working for them for many years. They really made sure we were 100% satisfied with all the work they did and if there was something we wanted them to fix, they did it in a heartbeat.

As far as price, we looked at 5 different contractors, the lowest being $19,000 and the highest being $45,000 (CASE designs, of course). They came in at $30K.

Feel free to PM me if you would like some more info on them. The person to contact is

They have excellent references, 3 or 4 of which I called. Anyways, if you do talk to them, tell them Lori from the Broadlands referred you.

And finally, for all of you saying what's my reason for doing this...yes, they do have a handyman for a day referral program (which I don't really need right now). I just wanted to share my great experience with an outstanding company since so many people have been looking for a good, honest construction company.

    Lori

Thanks for posting this. I am in a Juniper model and have considered flooring in a 2-story space as well to give us more "living" room. Does anyone else have any experience with this kind of remodeling project?
