Move your cars for paving, or they might just do it for you.

I was in the shower this morning while somebody spent ten minutes at my door, ringing the bell about 20 times. I cut my shower short and rushed down to see what the fuss was about. Paving trucks were in the street, and it was obvious they had wanted me to move my car off the street and into my driveway. Still dripping from my shower, I rushed to do so.

How considerate to have been given NO advance warning that paving was to occur today on my street. Had I been warned, I would have happily moved my car, rescheduled house deliveries, and prepared to get out of their way.

Apparently my neighbors down the street weren't warned, either. The paving mafia sat on their doorstep for 20 minutes before finally towing one of their cars away from in front of their own house!!

I've just seen this topic, and I asked Wes to check with Van Metre to see what happened. Usually they are very good at notifying the neighborhood when they're getting ready to pave.

When I find out what happened, I'll pass it on.

    Neil-
If it's street paving, it wouldn't be an HOA issue, but a developer (Van Metre) issue. Inglewood Ct. is a VDOT, not HOA, maintained street.

I know, but the homeowner should have an answer, and I wanted to check to see what happened as this is not a normal occurance with Van Metre, they usually notify people at least a day in advance.

Wes checked with Van Metre .. they've been trying to get this street paved before the winter, so when a paver became available, they told the contractor to do the street.

Doesn't normally happen, but in this case it did. Any issues should be brought up to the developer.

They weren't the friendliest bunch either. When I tried to get my car out around noon, I was told I "should have thought about that before they started paving". Well, DUH...had I KNOWN they were going to pave, I would not have left my car in the garage!! He didn't respond to my question as to why we had not received any notice whatsoever.

I'm glad it's done, but a little notice would have been nice.

This has been noted, and passed on to Van Metre. However, you can tell them directly at the upcoming Developers Update on Oct 7th.
