Hi - does anyone have a recommendation for someone who can help fix my computers? I have a home computer that works pretty well but we bought Sid Meier's Pirates game and it won't work - the computer has the minimum amount of memory required and I think that's the problem. So I want to add more memory, I guess.

I also have a Sony Vaio laptop that takes about 10 minutes to boot and I'd like to get it working faster. The C drive's full but I can't take any more stuff off it than I have. Is it ready for the recycling bin or can it be fixed?

I am only marginally technical and also do not have the time to mess with these, so a competent professional local computer expert is what I am looking for. Thanks!

I recommend Ask1Expert. Their rates are reasonable but even more important, I've found them to be very competent, professional and reliable. They are a small local business. Their phone # is 571.283.2095 and ask for Will. http://www.ask1expert.com/services.html

Thanks! Will gave me lots of advice, did the work I requested quickly and did a good job. I would recommend him too.

Several things. What OS are you running? What is the speed of your processor and how much memory do you have?

What version of DirectX do you have installed? The game should have come with DirectX and install it for you if you don't have it or have an older version.

10 mins for the lappy to boot up???? Holy Spirit! You must be running XP on a Pentium II.

Ask around your street for a student in HS or college that knows alot about computers. Use the test "Yo, is your PC overclocked?" If they say YES or know what you're talking about, they can help. Cash usually helps.

I'd come over but I'm too busy these days. Got too much work.

It was actually taking 28 minutes to boot up (Will timed it). It's much better now that he worked on it, but at 6 years old it's about ready to retire.

The computer game problem was the video card. Got a new video card and the game works great - my son is completely addicted to it.
