    Hi All,
Does anyone know what is going to be developed on Broadlands Blvd across from Old Wood Way? If you are coming down Claiborne and Safeway is on your left, you turn right on to Broadlands Blvd, about a 100 yards or so on the right is a little indent, like the beginning of a street, with a fence barrier. They just took down the barrier and put up an address. Any ideas?
    Scott

That has always been declared and zoned commercial. At one time, a sign went up about a new shopping area, but was removed quickly. When asked about this, a Van Metre employee said that the sign went up prematurely !!??!!

However, I can tell you that the grove of trees currently standing there, will not all remain.

Thanks Neil. I do remember that premature sign. That new sign went up today but it was just a number, like a street address.

Interesting ... often developers do that so that deliveries of supplies are dropped at the correct location.

Yes, noticed this a few days ago. There is also new gravel there as well. Anyone know what is going on there?

I believe that a Clydes is being built over there but don't quote me on it.

The Clydes is actually pretty far along and I believe supposed to open up this fall/winter. If you drive down Broadands Blvd. you can see it. :)

Yep, Clydes is looking great and soon ready to go. Sounds neat!

However, I think "Stevel" was wondering about very first barrier on the right once you turn onto Broadlands Blvd from Claiborne--(before Clydes)? I walk by there often and believe it used to be just an orange barrier but as of a couple weeks ago part of the barrier has been removed and a plywood address sign painted as well as gravel dumped...possibly meaning a new construction site soon?

I know they recently completed paved trails in the woods near there, the go upto the old barn (the one you can see from the Greenway). May explain the gravel piles. The new trails begin from the Cylde's parking lot and wind up through the woods and pond, but they all dead-end in the woods so you have to come back down the way you went in.

As part of Clyde's Special Exception approval, they agreed to stabilize the two old barns at the north end of the park. In order to access them with vehicles, they had to build a road from Broadlands Blvd to get back there. That is what you are seeing. No construction planned on the property.
