Has anyone been? We stopped by there tonight but didn't dine there.

The new Thai place (myThai?) is now open in Brambelton too. And we didn't stop there either. I'm a lot of help, eh? ;-)

according to the brambletonian - nicks is pricey and service can be hit or miss. I have only been to Nicks for a beer, and was bored -- did a cost compare, you get more beer cheaper on happy hour by drinking the smaller one - by about 2 oz worth :)

    Nick's? Don't waste your gas.

The verdict is still out on My Thai.

Just went to Nick's for the first time tonight. We'd peeked in there before and really wanted to like it.

We weren't that hungry so I just ordered buffalo wings and my wife ordered soup and a salad.

I guess the soup was alright since my wife ate most of it and didn't say anything about it. The salad was a plate of iceburg lettuce, some carrot, and a couple tomato pieces. For about $6.

The wings were soggy and the sauce had a wierd taste that I couldn't quite place (just give me Frank's Original, please...), and now that I think of it, I believe there were only 8 of them in an order. For about $7.

Based on this experience I doubt I'll be going back for a $15 plate of jambalaya or an $18 steak.

Nicks is hit or miss. They have a few good sandwiches and some good spinach dip but that is about all that we have had that was good. After they served jambalaya with hard (uncooked) rice, we have not been back.
Froots is open now and they have some excellent wraps! (And good smoothies)

We have been to Nick's three times and I have always ordered something different. Liked it each time. Have had good service as well. It's a nice place to eat and watch games on their flat screen TVs (three or four of them) with a nice interior. It is completely non-smoking which we like.

Hasn't been too crowded yet, but I am sure that will pick up for all the restaurants there (Cal Tortilla, Rigatoni Grill, My Thai Place, etc.) once the movie theater opens in a few weeks. Have not tried My Thai Place yet, but did take a look in there and it seemed fairly plain from a decorating standpoint.

Nick's Grill has the connotation of a neighborhood grill, but we went once and will not go back.

It is usually not crowded, largely becuase of it's way overpriced for what you get.

I put it in the same group as Del Rey...disappointing.

So....Nick's is to Brambleton what Glory Days is to Broadlands?

And Thai....I wont be going anywhere but Anothai, unless there quality goes the way of the buffalo.

I can walk to Nick's, I'd rather go to Glory Days. There are many people in Brambleton who feel that way.

Yeah, I agree with that. Glory Days isn't the greatest, but it's not TOO bad and it's close to us. For me, there's not a compelling reason to drive to Nick's.

    We like Cal Tortilla, though.

Thank goodness Lalida (Anothai owner) WILL NOT allow that to happen.

My husband and I ate at Mythai before catching a movie. We had drunken noodles and some appetizers. We thought the food was really good. The atmosphere is very eclectic. We will go back.

    Redon1 & T8erman,

Thank you very much for your support. We're glad that you can tell our food is different. Our restaurant has many special dishes that no other Thai restaurant not only in this area but in Northern Virginia have (i.e. Pork in the Garden, Volcano chicken, etc.). We also have an exotic dishes menu for those who like to be adventurous. All of these make us different and unique.

    Ayayagirl,

I'd like to personally invite to try Anothai. As mentioned above, we have wide variety of menu items. You can also check out our menu online at www.anothairestaurant.com

    Regards,
    Lalida

We had this Thai dish a few times in (of all places) Tennesee. It was called fried garlic(they also had fried basil) and was one of our favorite dishes. I have not been able to find that anywhere. So I wonder if it was indeed a Tahi dish or just a made up dish.

    Broken Skull,

Is it fried garlic/basil or stir-fried garlic/basil? Authentically, Thai people eat stir-fried garlic/basil not deep-fried. We; however, carry both dishes. If what we have doesn't satisfy your taste bud, please don't hesitate to describe the way you had it in Tennessee to our waitstaff. Our chef is skillful enough to tailor it for you. By the way, which restaurant in TN is it? My in-laws own 3 Thai restaurants in Nashville; Siam Cuisine, Siam Cafe and Jasmine.

    Lalida.

It was a little thai resaurant in Clarksville Tennessee called Thai House Restaurant. Part of the problem is that it was a while ago so it is hard to describe it. It was a dish that had rice, a light sauce, choice of meat or tofu and the fried garlic or basil in it. I'll have to confer with the wife to figure out if I am on track or not. She is more into the dish than I am. I am a Drunken Noodle guy anyway.

Its been a while since we have been to your restaurant, only because we are watching our money closely, but we will be in sometime next week. I will be sure to introduce myself.

Please do. I'd love to put the face to the name. I'll host a dinner sometime this fall for the broadlands forum users so that I can finally put faces to names.

    Have a great weekend!!

    Lalida.
