I apologize for misunderstanding your posting.

I also wholeheartedly disagree with your suggestion that we use 'personas'. If that's the case, should I then have 3, since I am also on the Technology Committee? Should folks who post here and are members of the CCB also have dual-personas? Do you realize how much more confusing all these different personas would be? If I say something 'official', as a Resident Board member, I will say so in my posting, just like my signature block indicates. Otherwise, it's MY opinion. Is that not clear enough?

Finally, I wasn't trying to 'derail' your comment. I apologized for misunderstanding it, but please have the courtesy to not 'ridicule' me with your 'scores' and such. We're trying to have a discussion here.

    Probably right here
So more anonymous posting is the way to get better transparency? :pofl: What is the point of having board members post behind an account we know its that same person? Their personal postings are still seen as that person.

Note, in theory Eric, Brian, Cliff, Staci, etc could all be posting under anonymous accounts like you do today.. but instead, chose to be outright and clear on who they are, so there is no confusion, and direct accountability. You suggest they instead all hide? Maybe a confessional type wall between the residents and the board at the board meetings too?

When I read the posts of board members I try to read them as I would anyone elses posts. Yes, sometimes there is additional information to be had, which is good, but generally speaking, I can't ask Cliff to give me permission to paint my house pink here in the forum. However, the discussion would be fun.

    :pofl:

To me it is perfectly clear that HOA board members posting here are posting as neighbors, and I take their posts that way. I try not to gripe at them as I would at the HOA, and I do assume that in their role as HOA board members they do the best job they can and have the best for our community in mind. Are there things I disagree with? Of course. And if I want to change them I always have the option to volunteer myself, but I am too lazy, therefore I won't and I live with the things I don't like and don't ***** about them either.

So ... how about that pink paint? Or purple? :devil2:

Then why are board members discussing board decisions on this forum?

My point is that you can't have it both ways. If this is truly an unofficial forum than no board business should be discussed by board members.

If a Board-related thread is started, all a board member should do is post that this is an unofficial forum and that any discussions taking place do not involve the elected board.

But once a board member startes to explain or define a board action or anything about the how the board addresses/does not address an issue, this becomes a de facto board discussion thread.

Again, the board members need to make a decision and stick with it. Either this is or is not a place to discuss board decisions/issues/methodology and stick with it.

I also believe that Board Members should have two separate accounts, one as a Board Member and one as a forum member. Because as members of this community people have the right to express their opinions on this forum.

Ozgood, I appreciate your opinion. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this issue.

Because they are residents as well.

Do you also propose they do not speak to their neighbors on their own time? Maybe issue muzzles to ensure they don't talk to anyone except when seated at the Board Table?

The resident Board Members are allowed to act as residents too.. because most importantly, they are residents first.

You suggest the board members not be able to discuss any board related material - but you fail to distinguish between the individual and the board AND the notion of responsibility granted to those people to entrust information they are privy to. An individual is still allowed to have an opinion outside of their job.

    Which they do by
    - the established rules which all members are to read and follow
    - their disclaimer posted in each post

You realize 5 out of the 9 current board members in fact DO NOT post here, right? Do you feel any more connected or informed about what those 5 members feel or think about your comments? Do you feel this discussion forum serves you better knowing that those 5 people are not posting here? What you are proposing is already happening with a majority of the board. Do you feel their absence has improved your experience in some way?

And by having a resident who sat in the meeting say the same things regarding the decision would be any different how? The resident members are discussing information that is freely available and open to all residents. There is no additional disclosure happening here, or additional things that other diligent residents could not convey themselves.

They have - any issue that has been towards a specific issue or requires a Board decision, has been moved to the formal meetings or communications. Would you really prefer members never interact with their neighbors except for the second Tuesday of every month? Would you expect if you saw Eric at the school, that if you asked him a question about why he did something, he'd blow you off and tell you to ask him on Nov 11th?

And what exactly do you expect a 'Board Member' profile to be used for? This platform does not meet the criteria needed to conduct offical business. So what's the point?

So I take that as a YES to my purple house. It will go well with pink flamingos and a fridge on the porch ...
