I live in a townhouse and I have noticed that there are two cars that are parked outside in the parking spaces, that do not ever move. One has been in the same spot all day long for about a month. I personally dont feel its fair to the other residents of the community that cannot use the space. What can be done about this?

As long as the car belongs to a resident on your street/area, has valid tags and county sticker, and is parked in a parking space, I don't think there's anything you can do. A month is really not a long time. A year might be. I can easily go on vacation and not use my car for a month or so. I even had one of my cars sit in a parking space for several months without ever moving.

Now if the parking situation gets bad that you can't find a space most of the time, then I would suggest contacting the HOA. It might be time to mark spaces for each home on your street. I personally hate this. I've seen in other townhouse communities where each home got 2 spaces. And visitor parking was like a half mile away. Lucky for us Broadlands has a mix of garage and non garage townhouses which frees up lots of parking spaces, well at least on my street.

Well there are times when I or my guest cannot find any spots. Also, all the houses on my street have garages, so my feeling is that if you have a vehicle that you are not going to be driving, put it in the garage so others can have an equal oppertunity to all the parking spots. I, like you, hate marking spots, I think its unfair to guest to make them walk a half a mile, just wish some people were more considerate of the limited spaces.

Oh I forgot to add this in my first post but one of the cars is supposedly for sale... not going to sell vary well when the only people that see it are the people checking their mail on that side of the street.

Wait, all the houses on your street have garages? So why can't you park in your driveway? If the matter is about not having enough visitor parking, then you should speak up to your neighbors or ask the HOA to send a letter to all the homes in your area reminding them to be considerate in using the empty parking spaces.

Except for my street, I think all the townhouses don't have enough public spaces for visitor and residents who have more than 1 car and don't want to tandem park. My opinion is that there really isn't anything you can do within legal bounds except complain to the HOA. I guarantee leaving a note on the car will get you nowhere. I'm sure there are many families with more than 1 car and if they use the garage then I'm sure the extra cars are going to these additional parking spaces. Who would want to do tandem parking with a garage.

not sure what section I think its 9, but I am on Welby. If I was selling a car I would want it on Demott.

Teak to answer your question, my wife and I tandem park, i have the garage and she has the driveway, since she leaves before me. But it its problem at night when we come home opposite of that schedual.

JcrowS, I agree that if this person wanted to sell their car effectively, it should be in a well travel road. Maybe you should approach this person and give them some friendly advice. Maybe it'll get the car out of that valuable parking space. Sorry to say but not everyone is in tune that they are offending others by letting their car sit in the same spot for months. You don't have it as bad as some places I know.

Again your only option I see it is to live with the fact some cars will take up valuable space for undetermined amount of time, or contact the HOA and see that they can do something about it, or persuade the owners of these cars to see if they can find other places for long term parking. Unfortunately for you these cars do not qualify as abandon. I think it has to sit for months or a year. BTW, what kind of car is forsale?

Unless the car is parked on the street in front of your residence, you will likely receive a $40 ticket - I did last year when selling a car.
