For the Corn Syrup haters out there, Pepsi is doing a limited run of their Pepsi and Mountain Dew products with real sugar instead of Corn Syrup.

So far, it looks like the Safeway has a stock of both the cans (in the soda aisle) and the bottles (for individual sale only). I found some at the Harris Teeter a week ago in the Southern Walk plaza, but have not seen it since.

I still have yet to find the Mountain Dew throwback, which is the one I would really like to try.

Now if Coke would bring back real Coke Classic....

Stock up during Passover. Look for the special Passover Kosher Symbol. Wegmann's is best bet. But - it's STILL not real Coke!!!!!

Also - Snapple has announced "real sugar" in many of their tea products. Lipton's "Real Leaf" tea also uses sugar - not the HFCS crap.

That's what I do every year at Passover. The bottles usually have yellow caps to differentiate them from the standard Coke offerings. Also look for a sign on the display that says "Kosher for Passover Coke" or similar wording. Passover is long gone and so is the Coke, so you'll have to wait until next year.

For those that have tried the real sugar soft drinks--can you really taste the difference?

Yes - but if you prefer it or not is a personal thing.

For instance, in Europe they use sugar and not HFCS.. and I can't stand the Sprite or Coke there. I actually prefer Pepsi when in Europe.

But that could be other regional differences as well.. I haven't pursued sugar versions here.

The Coke made with sugar is "sharper" - almost like old coke. However, the bigger difference is in the reaction your body has. HFCS shuts down the "fullness" signallers in your tummy - ergo, when you go to McD's you CAN eat that second Big Mac AND finish off the huge fries! Your stomach has no idea how full it is.

Wegman's had a lot of the Pepsi throwback today. I bought two twelve packs and it tastes okay. They probably had 50+ 12 packs stacked up in the back of the store.
