Since we are entering the season of open houses for fall preschool placement, I am wondering if anyone can recommend a preschool or mother's morning out program for a 2 yr. old. I've seen programs where they have to be 2.5. My child will be a couple months shy of that in September, and not likely potty trained either, so if you know of a program you recommend, I'd love to hear about it.
    Thanks!

Ummm... how about Ashburn dads? I know they're a rare breed but my husband is a stay-at-home dad.

The next couple months are when most of the area pre-schools have their Open Houses for Fall enrollment. I'd watch the Broadlands newsletter and the local free newspapers for dates/times. Good luck in your search!

My son attends Little Sprouts Preschool here in Broadlands. I believe Karlene has a couple of posts on the Advertisers Forum. Her cut off is 2 by September 30th. She takes kids that aren't potty trained.

I've been very pleased with it and my son loves it.

My daughter is also at Little Sprouts and we've been VERY pleased. Karlene has both a preschool program and a separate Mom's Morning Out.

I run My Favorite Place Preschool here in Broadlands, and we will have a 2 year old program again in the fall. The children need to be 2 by Dec 31, do not need potty training, and we have a co-op option. We will have class on Thursdays from 9:00 - 11:00. We have an open house Jan 20, and Jan 24 from 1:30 - 2:30 if you are interested. PLease see the school web page for more information. http://favoriteplacepreschool.clubspaces.com/

My kids have attended Growing Minds Preschool which is run out of a home off of Chickacoan Trail. I can't give enough kudos to the Owner Judi Ratcliff. She has the same cut off for 2,3, and 4 year olds (which matches with LCPS). I believe she used to be a teacher in the public schools as did much of her staff. We were lucky to get in when she started it about 5 years ago, so are younger children were grandfathered in. Not sure if she has any openings but it's definitely worth it if you can get in.

My experience at Growing Minds was much better than that of an unamed local preschool that we tried when one of our kids got to pre-K. Judi and her staff are much better educated and trained. I don't think you need to be potty trained.

If you are looking for a preschool, I would highly recommend attending the preschool forum next week. This is put on by moms who have or had children in various programs in the area. It is a grest way to get the inside scoop on programs and not just the particular schools side since they are not there. You can find out the pluses and negatives to up to 20+ different schools.

I know that this is how I found a program for my child that I am incredibly happy with.
