Ever wanted to tell EPA what you thought on an environmental topic? Each week, you have your chance in the EPA blog, Greenversations. Each question is an open-ended blog entry; please share your thoughts as comments.

    This week’s question:

What do you do with unused over-the-counter or prescription drugs?

Drugs and pharmaceutical products include powerful chemicals that have saved or improved countless lives. But even small amounts of drugs need to be disposed of carefully so they don't pollute the environment or harm human health and wildlife. In early 2007 the government set guidelines for proper disposal of prescription drugs:

better be SURE to get rid of them- my 10 year old was telling me about "Trail Mix"- where kids just take random drugs from their parents medicine cabinets and just pop pills. stooopid. can you imagine just swallowing any ol' pill just to SEE what kind of high you would get?!?!? how dumb ARE these people?

You can drop them at the Leesburg Pharmacy-they have a contract with a company who will incinerate them. I think you can even drop them at the pharmacy drive-through so you don't have to leave your car.

Apparently people will sell them on ebay - with expired dates even.
