I live ina townhome, since we moved in in 2002 they've gone from $65.00 to now $75.50. Have we been given any reason for the raise? Maybe I just missed it.

Have you taken a look at the budget that is sent to every resident every year?

Not only is the budget listed, our General Manager gave a short narrative for the increase, there has previously been a thread on this topic, and I conducted a resident budget meeting for folks that had questions or comments about the budget. It was advertised in the newsletter.

Maybe it would be helpful to actually state the reason here, its what the forum is for.

It was due to the increase in THs in Broadlands overall. Even though the common areas did not increase for your section it did overall and THs and SFHs are separate in that even though some THs have less common areas then SFHs on the trails we pay more.

See the thread "2007 Broadlands Budget" in the Broadlands Community Issues Forum.
You're incorrect in your explanation. The amount of open space common area (trails, landscaping, etc.) had nothing to do with it. This cost is shared equally by all. It's the increased amount of private street the HOA must maintain.

To give a simple explanation basically the price of oil went up thus the price of blacktop went up thus the TH HOA dues went up.
TH's are on private streets (unlike the VDOT maintained ones in most SF homes) and the cost of maintaining those streets went up significanlty because the cost of blacktop went up significantly.
