Need help/advice on the quote we received to replace the entire deck railing!! We are a first-time homeowner and just recently moved to the community. Our deck is big (approx. 16x22 ft) and we need to replace all the railing around the deck. We are quoted at $2,600 and want to know if this is reasonable. Can anyone please provide some ideas??

Also - do we need to submit for HoA modification approval even if it's just replacing the railing?

Lumber costs and other building materials have gone through the roof due to supply chain constraints dating back to 2020. No telling when they'll come back down to the pre-pandemic levels. If you are not rushed to complete this project, you may want to wait and see what the market does over the next year.

You do not need to apply if you are replacing it with the exact same materials in the exact same style. If anything is changing you'll need to apply.
