I saw many postings on painters but all were quite old and I thought I would ask if folks could share recent experiences (good or bad) with interior painters based on price and quality of work. I have one quote and wanted to get a few more for interior and I am hoping to get advice on other painters to contact.

I have an ad from Olde World Painting (recent in my door) and wondered if someone has used them?

I have a two story foyer and kitchen, possibly some more if the price is not rediculous... like University Painters. I am not ready to believe it will cost that much. I am going to do some of this myself but do not want to get up on that 12 foot ladder if I can help it... thanks

I recall getting a quote from Olde World a little over a year ago when we had our painting done. They were pretty high and we did not go with them. We went with Certa Pro. (Also got a quote from Kris' after seeing his reviews on the forum, but he was pretty expensive too.) I'd give Certa Pro a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best.) Price was pretty good, work was pretty good, communication could have been better.

yea, I think this area is called "Cashburn" Virginia for a reason... and from what I can see, $2.00 a sq foot painting is the general cost. So the typical room is $400 - $800 and that seems outrageous to me. I am getting more disgusted with each person I talk to.

We used L & R Painting, who painted our entire house (including the 2 story living room) - we are in a 3 level Cedarwood and it cost us around $3,600.

Included: Primer, Two Coats of Duron Paint(5 colors), Eggshell & Semigloss(for the Bathrooms)

Ask for Larry or Mickey 703-830-3236

You get what you pay for, and is a 7 out of 10 worth all of the money you spend?
Kris' Painting Service gets my vote. 10/10- super communicative, super fast, and a pro job all around. Plus, Kris and his company really give back to our community, recently doing over $4k worth of work for free at Winnie The Pooh Preschool, a non-profit cooperative at Mt.Hope Baptist Chruch on Belmont Ridge just around the corner. They really spent a lot of man hours getting it done and I think it's great that some small businesses will go out of their way to help the community. It's not always easy or monetarily feasible for the little guys to do that.
PLUS, I have hired Kris, based on forum reviews, and he was spectacular.

Sunny... you're probably right. He would have charged me more and I probably would have been happier with his work. You DO get what you pay for. I agree.

About a year ago we had CJ Gross paint several rooms in our house, including the 2 story foyer. We were extremely pleased with his work, the price and that we felt comfortable leaving him alone in our home for a few hours.

He has done many of the homes on our street if that tells you how happy all my neighbors are as well.

At the time he charged us $1 per sqf plus paint. He uses Sherwin Williams and was able to match Restoration Hardware and Benjamin Moore for us. He also cleans up the wals prior to priming, fixing all the issues Van Metre left us.

CJ's company's name is Christopher Paints. His number is 540-661-6338 and his email is cpaints@netzero.com

    Hope this helps!

    Hi,
I have a great person to recommend for drywall repairs and painting. I have hired him many, many times at four different properties and he has always done excellent work! He just finished painting my basement and bathroom. He's painted all three levels of my current home in Broadlands. He is very dependable, the drywall, paint and walls always look beautiful, and he and his crew are quick. Some other posters mentioned you get what you pay for and I always feel I get such a great value from the high quality work he does. His name is Ronald Jimenez, and he can be reached at 703-932-0551.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Just in case it is helpful/interesting - we ended up contacting and working with Ronald Jiminez that Cheryl recommended. He was outstanding and did a great job. High quality work, on schedule and he was great to work with. His prices were great and reasonable and I would not hesitate in using him again.

We used MDB Painting this month and were extremely happy with the speed and quality of service. Excellent experience with their estimator (the owner), their office support, and their field team of painters/supervisors - all very professional with great customer service. I think the prices were reasonable (they're all kind of outrageous, aren't they?), although I did not do any cost comparisons for the job we had done -- just went on a neighbor's recommendation.
