We have an infant son that I thought had a spot in one of the neighborhood day care centers starting in October. Turns out the old center director(left under questionable circumstances) had WAY overbooked the waitlist and even though they had our deposit in March we could be waiting months longer than expected. Since I'm scheduled to go back to work this is a disaster. I've called other centers and been practically laughed at when I tell them I need a spot in 2 months so I am looking for someone who might be able to watch our son in their home. Does anyone know of someone local who they would recommend? All reliable and trustworthy suggestions appreciated - we are desperate!!!

Did you really contact all the centers in the area, including Ashburn Village too? I will check with a neighbor of mine, I know she was doing this for I think 2 other kids.

So far I have contacted places that people have recomended...Children's World, Open Arms, Ashburn Village Country Day, Creme de la Creme, Bean Tree....most have lists through next spring. If there is somewhere else someone likes, I'll try there too. I've got a few names of places people advise I avoid as well so I won't go to those.

My son goes to a woman who provides care in her home. He's a toddler and is only there 1/2 day per week but I know she watches a few babies. She is wonderful - very loving. I don't know if she wants her name shown here so feel free to email me and I'll give you her name and number.

mlfrank - I spoke to the Director today at Kindercare in Ashburn Village and she said she had room for kids, but I was not sure of the age of your child but she said to call her right away and that she was ready to help...her name is Nicole at (703) 729-6567.

She also said that KinderCare, is the parent company of Childrens World (I am assuming that this is the place you meant) and that she would like to hear from you too as well concerning your recent experiences, she can also possibly help there too, but at least wants to make sure that the situation is receiving the attention it should. Kindercare has been fantastic and we have several friends there too.

Just tell Nicole that it was Dave and Olga that sent you so that way she will know who you are - we told her that we would try to get you to call tomorrow if you could.

great - and thanks for the feedback. Like I said, worse case Nicole expressed a desire to help you no matter what and that would include try to get you into any other place in the area if needed.

I had to send my daughter to day care for short period of time as i had a surgery. I am sending her to a home based day care. She simply loves it there. Its a clean and safe day care run by a loving lady. If u are interested sent me a email I can give u her name and number. She has four kids rite now in her day care.
