Everyone filled their's out? Only 51% response throughout the county right now...and it's costing us money!

Each qualifying child (1-19 of age) reported earns the county $1700 from the state, and not our property taxes! Houses that don't respond (via web site or mailing) actually cost us because the county will send people door to door. One rep said visiting 25,000 houses would cost about $150,000.

Also, do it online and save the county more money: www.loudoun.k12.va.us.

    From Leesburg Today
Hegener is hoping to save money with the online method. “The online process benefits us because we don’t have to pay postage,” Hegener said. “We expect 30-40 percent of the residents to respond on our website.” Essentially this could save the school system about $10,000.

There was a more recent article in the 4/1 issue.

Some of the newer housing areas may not have been in the system when they sent out the original census forms.

If you didn't get one, this is from the Census Q&A on http://www.loudoun.k12.va.us/planning/census/homepage.htm

    Q. I did not receive a mail packet. How can I respond to the Census?
    A. Every effort has been made to generate a complete residential address list; however, for the fastest growing county in the nation, it’s possible a new address was missed. New residents moving into Loudoun County at anytime during the Census window (March 1- July 15) should respond to the Loudoun County Census. For those who have not received or misplaced the mail packet, please send us e-mail at census@loudoun.k12.va.us with your residence address, and mailing address if different.

They're making it very easy to correct a missing address, so please send an email with the data requested, so we get our fair share from the taxes we send to Richmond.
