I have a question based on something I have seen. Are we allowed to build a screened in porch on the side of a house? I always thought everything had to be behind the house but when I saw this it made me wonder. Anyone know? Just curious.

There are circumstsnces where screen porches have been approved on the sides of houses...in this case they are treated as additions with different guidelines than those that would be used for a simple rear yard porch/deck...

To elaborate ... in these cases, the Modifications Committee will OK these due to strange lot layouts, mandatory "no build" easements, etc.

Each is determined on a case by case basis based on the circumstances of the case, so seeing one does not give a blanket approval for all.

And as Maureen pointed out, these have to follow stricter requirements than for a simple backyard screen porch on a deck.
