If AAA is responsible for the loss they should. AAA service has been indecline to say the least. They dont even make a reasonable effort to pick up the trash in the street from the wind.

    Homer-
Your primary assumption is wrong. If you have concerns over your HOA fees, why don't you simply stop by the HOA office and you can see, dollar for dollar, EXACTLY why the HOA fees are different for: single family homes, towmhouses, courtyard homes, single family homes on private streets.
For example, townhouses are on private streets which require the HOA to pay for their maintenance and upkeep versus single family homes which are primarily on VDOT maintained streets. The cost for this maintenance item is shared by the townhouses on these streets.

Who is Wes? How should I get in touch with him? I need a good, sturdy trash can for my family... not the kind you get at Home Depot. Well, I was thinking maybe I am paying more? Do you mean that HOA fees are suppose to cover our trash- b/c I do write a check to AAA also. Thanks-

Wes Schroeder, General Manager for the Broadlands Association, phone number can be found in the April newsletter. And if you're paying AAA for trash pickup, then yes, you're paying twice as trash pickup is covered in your HOA fees.

You can get sturdy trash cans at Home Depot or Lowes, they do have a type of roller tote, but remember they must be of a size that can be put away, out of sight.

    Hello:

I just bought a new single family house in Southern walk. I called AAA to try to set up my trash service. They said it cost $3 a month for trash removal service. I'm confused isnt this covered by our HOA dues? For $238 i should hope so...

Trash service is part of your HOA fee .... Not sure why they would ask for $3 additional fee ?

I just talked to AAA again. They said $3/mo for having the trashcan. The pickup service is included in teh HOA fee. Does everyone pay this $3 for having the Trashcan?

AAA is really bad about the folks who answer the phones not having access to the community contracts. Broadlands has negotiated specific service with them, the guy on the phone may not be aware. If you are in a single family home, they should give you a trashcan (you're already paying for it through HOA); if your in a townhouse, the jumbo trashcans were more of a liability (no place to put them), so they are NOT included. When it comes time for a special pickup (like when you decide some of that stuff you moved should have been left behind ;) Wes in the HOA office can give you the price (I believe $25) and the process. They'll try to charge you the non-negotiate, plain old homeowner rate (based on previous posts to this board), just tell them you know it's supposed to be whatever Wes tells you.

    Welcome to the neighborhood!

Umm ... she's right all around. You should be getting a trash bin delivered, if you havn't gotten one yet, give Wes Schroeder a call at the HOA office.

No one, I repeat NO ONE, should be paying a monthly fee to AAA for trash service AT ALL !!
