We love Skyline Chili also. When I attended a Fancy Food Trade Show for Specialty Foods recently, I found out that you can order their products and alot more MAIL ORDER on their web site. Web site is below--

    www.skylinechili.com (Skyline Chili's web site/info).

    Good eats--

We are from Cincinnati, and miss our skyline chili! However, they do sell the frozen variety, at Harris Teeter. I know it's not quite as good as fresh, but it will do in a pinch!

Haven't tried Clyde's yet, but I doubt very much it resembles Skyline. The restaurants in this area reinterpret Cincinnati chili as a Texas chili with cinnamon. Whole different concept.

    I will give Clyde's a try though.

I used to buy the frozen at Krogers when I lived there. It's as close to the original as you can get!

After I moved here, I kept having dreams that I was at Kroger and I couldn't find the chili! I was so sad.... :bawling: but now, it's available just down the street! :partydance3:

I love Skyline!!!!! Every time my Dad comes for a visit from Cincy he brings about 24 frozen boxes in a cooler with dry ice. I am not sure what I like more- the fact that my Dad is visiting or that he brings Skyline!! It also makes a great dip- Layer cream cheese, skyline and shredded cheese in a pie dish, bake for about 10 minutes and serve with tortilla chips- yummy!

However, if you have not tried Skyline before, it is an acquired taste. In Cincy you eat it with spaghetti, or on a hot dog with bun(Coney). You either love it or hate it!!

There was rumor of a Skyline Chili in DC, but I was told in closed.[IMG]

Where in Cincy is everyone from??? I will claim Clermont County!!:eww:

You are correct: Skyline dip is the bomb, it is an acquired taste, and there used to be one here many, many years ago. It was in the shopping plaza on rt. 50, in the same complex as where Grievey's is. I think it closed around 1992-93. Just before I knew about it!

I lived in Price Hill at first (interesting area... need I say more?) and then Hyde Park. I was in the Cincy area from 94-98. Izzy is from Cincy too! I adopted her from the Scratching Post no-kill cat shelter. Amazingly, she knows the smell of Skyline, it means she's going to get some cheddar cheese!

I always liked downtown, even before Cincy was a gleam in my eye. I used to love the opening shots of WKRC! It was big enough to be urban, but small enough that you didn't get too lost in the crowd.

I like Cincy, too. But every time I go back I remember why I moved away from family.:screwy:

Did you knows that you can also order Graeter's Ice Cream online as well as Busken's Bakery cookies? I will have to look up the site, but I am sure if you Google you can find it. Whenever I go for a visit I put on at least five pounds doing the rounds to Skyline, Frisch's, Graeter's and Buskens!!

And as for the Cincinnati skyline, it has been upgraded with the "Purple People Eater" Bridge that goes from Cincy to Newport on the Levy. Weird.

    http://www.busken.com/cookies.php

I want Halloween cookies!!! I used to work at a Plant Farm that also sold the cookies during pumpkin season. Let's just say they always came up short at inventory time....

Oh, gosh - you all are making me nostalgic. We lived there just from '77 - '80; moved from Columbus. Whitney1125, we lived in Clermont Co., too, in Loveland! Small world!

I'd give Clyde's chili a try, but am not holding out much hope that it's authentic. Still, I love chili, so what's the harm? Hard Times Cafe claims to have Cincy chili too, but it's nowhere close.

I PM'ed Izzy the recipe I use, that came from Murray Bros. spice store that used to be under Riverfront Stadium. If anyone else wants it, I'll post it here. It's pretty close, but some may want to tweak it.

Yes, the Skyline that was on Rt. 50 closed just about the time that I discovered there was a Skyline in the area. When I worked at UC, people used to bring in Busken's goodies a lot. Are there any fans of klunkers out there?? And Graeter's; oh my! I was in Columbus this summer and there is a gigantic new Graeter's on Sawmill Rd.

And - let us not forget the ribs at Montgomery Inn, with the secret sauce and Saratoga chips! I need to back to Cincy one of these days!

Ahh, I almost forgot to brag that Dad also brought along six containers of Montgomery Inn BBQ sauce! Of course, I can't cook worth a darn so we put it on chicken. Yummy. I think Dad brings these things to me in the hope that I will want to move back! Hmmm.....nah.

    whitney1125 and others--

Glad to see my post has such great memories. Skyline Chili is great and now you can MAIL ORDER from their company. :)

Like I stated previously, you can pretty much mail order alot of food products, etc. from major food companies and skip the "middlemen". Since I travel sometimes for my business to trade shows that sponsors food-related products, I can inform or give you some helpful info if you are finding it hard to locate certain items.

Just feel free to post or PM me.

    Good eats--

Thanks for the reminder of the mail order chili, but to be honest, I think the boxes of Skyline at HT are the same price if not less than the cans you order from the company. I have ordered from them in the past and they did a good job. The frozen kind are truer to taste to the parlors since they don't have the tinny taste to them, and I don't have to pay a shipping charge.

FYI, there is a site that's been in operation for years and years called http://www.cincinnati-to-you.com that sells canned/frozen Skyline, Graeters, Larosa's Sauce, Montgomery Inn Sauce, Queen City Sausage, and a bunch of other Cincy related stuff.

Can you tell I've been trying to get my hands on Skyline for awhile?!?!

What aisle in HT (Southern Walk) is the Skyline Chile located? I was looking with my son in the refrigerated section, and couldn't find them. Help!

Walk in, and then go all the way to the right. Turn left into the very last aisle and stop walking immediately. Look down to your left.
