Soil PH levels

    Has anyone had the pH tested in their soil. If you have, was it acidic/did they suggest lime application?

    I ask because basically, our soil pH will be similar throughout this area. Then I don't have to do the test meself!

    Well, 5 days ago I put 240 lbs of pelletized limestone on my lawn. It is already making my lawn appear greener than my neighbors. My superintendent (aka agronomist or grass-grower) said that it would help the grass fully utilize the nutrients in the soil and fertilizer.

    you are right and yes, our soil is generally acidic around here. And Limestone should be applied twice a year and is not season specific in terms of application times either.

    I tend to only apply limestone once a year around here and that seems to make a good difference.
