Spam in Private Messages

    We had a user send out a large volume of spam messages via private message today. This has been resolved, but you would have already gotten a notification email about the private message. The message should already be deleted from your Private Message Inbox.

    Anytime you see suspicious behavior, please feel free to contact us through the Forum Administrator account or the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page - your extra eyes help keep the community site running smoothly.

    We were able to curtail this before it spread further through the message from one of our users - so keep up the good work! :)

    Thanks for the info. I am one of those people who received a message. Sometimes my forum emails go to my bulk and every once in a while I check through to make sure I'm not missing anything. I was freaked out by the weird message I received and even more so when it was not in my pm box.:scaredeyes: I was just about to post something about it when I saw this thread. Thanks again for being on top of things!!

    We had another one of these today. The messages should be gone, but you would have gotten a notification already. Thanks again to those who quickly reported the message.

    They got out 69 messages... so out of the thousands of members we have the coverage is quite low :)

    This is repeat offender that has hit lots of sites. Unless we start really locking things down, its best to just deal with them as they come. It's not worth the inconvenience to legit new members.

    Thanks again to those who report the questionable content - it really does help keep things running smoothly.

    I received a message and it was deleted but it still shows I have a new message, any ideas?

    Problem went away when I sent a new private message, /shrug.
