We were out in Ashburn shopping and drove behind the new Starbucks. It seems like this location will not have a drive-thru--oh well!!

We did not see a window for a drive-thru. Maybe they will put one somewhere else.

How could they NOT plan on doing a drive thru?? With the ridiculous morning traffic on Waxpool, one could jump off, get into a Starbucks drive thru, order a coffee, get back onto Waxpool and not lose your place in the traffic line.

Maybe they plan on having a walking barrista cart to serve drinks while your still on the road?

If you get a chance, check out the Bean Scene Cafe across the street. They make a good cup of joe, have far better food than Starbucks, and the staff is very nice. I think they're a bit frightened by the new competition across the street - it would be good to see the independent shop stay in business.

Only one problem - for some reason, they choose to play godawful boybands on a loop as the background music in the cafe. Maybe if enough people complain, they'll change it.

If Jim Jones was around in the 21st Century, methinks him and his followers would drink Starbucks.

I LOVE bean scene too! We go there about 3-4 times a week. Their coffee drinks actually tastes like coffee! They've got other types of drinks (tea, boboa/bubble, slushies) for the non-coffee drinkers too. Food is good as well, I have their breakfast crepe every weekend.

If bean scene does actually have better coffee, which it sounds like they do, competition will be a good thing. People will go there out of curiousity when s$tarbuck$ is packed and will continue to go for better stuff and tell friends.

I always stopped by that Bean Scene when I carried out Pho next door.
I love their smoothies .. JackFruit smoothies is my favorite. I wouldn't want to try bubble though.

Here's what I learned the other day.

At that Starbucks (next to Potbellies), you can get a refill on any sized coffee for 53 cents within an hour of purchasing the original cup. I over heard them talking about it and I think they said they are the only location to do that (sounds odd since they're not frachises).

So, I got my second venti coffee for 53 cents. No. I didn't neeeeeed a second venti-sized coffee, but I'm addicted so there.

Heh, a friend of mine has worked at Starbucks for 4+ years and told me that the drive-through is always slower than the inside during peak hours... (Since inside they can take orders faster.) You'd think people might want to save the gas and time and burn a few extra calories by walking in and standing in line before consuming their over-priced, high-calorie coffee drinks... but I guess without their coffee in the morning they might not think of that. ;) *shrug* Maybe the fact that I don't drink coffee explains my naïvety with this, heh.

Most Starbucks that I have been to will give you up to 10 percent off of your order if you bring in your own cup...from anywhere.
