Storm Door

    I've seen an old post on storm doors but have a few additional questions as I consider doing this.

    I will have to build out the jamb/brick mold and I'm not too concerned about this. However, how have others addressed the sill plate extension? Is there a kit that you used? How did the professional installers handle this?

    Any insights would be helpful. Thanks.

    I had a storm door installed by either Home Depot or Lowe's about 5 years ago. They built out the door frame about 2-1/8" and painted it to match the original door frame color but they didn't have to extend the sill plate. I just checked and the sill was wide enough to not cause a problem.

    My door frame area is wood and not brick, and I have a small front porch, so the door frame area doesn't appear to be constructed the same as yours. Good luck...
