From the Office of Waste Management

The Loudoun County Office of Solid Waste Management encourages everyone to continue recycling during summer activities. While recycling may seem to be a challenge during outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, picnics and parties, there are ways to help keep it in the daily routine. Some recycling tips to consider include:

    • Bring a plastic bag to collect recyclables at your picnic, party, or campsite. Place the bag next to the trashcan with a sign on it to let your party know where to put their bottles and cans. The sign can be as simple as handwriting on a paper plate! Visit www.loudoun.gov/recycling-signs for ready-made recycling signs to use at your next outing.

    • Use a backpack on hiking trips to carry out your recyclables.

    • Purchase food and beverage products that come in recyclable packaging, such as aluminum, plastic or glass drink bottles and cans, and paperboard snack boxes.

    • Remind friends and family of the importance of recycling and availability of local recycling services. Visit www.loudoun.gov/recycling-centers for a list of Recycling Dropoff Centers in Loudoun County.
