Has anyone experienced poor customer service as well as problematic gas pumps whenever visiting Sunoco in Broadlands? Whenever I visit there I always have issues with the gas pump and the attendant is never nice about helping me. Either the debit card feature isn't working, or the gas pump handle is malfunctioning or all the pumps are out of service altogether!! I'm boycotting Sunoco for Safeway Gas! Just curious if anyone else has experienced similiar issues.

I've never had pump problems or payment problems there.

I did have a problem with the pump, but this was two years ago when it was a Mobile. I set the pump so that it would fill my tank automatically. It never clicked off! Gas spilled everywhere. When I mentioned this to the clerk (only to be helpful and not expecting any cash back), he just stared at me in a dumbfounded manner.

I'm not sure if Sunoco is using the same pumps, but I thought that I would throw it out there in case others have experienced this recently.

so they say. I didn't get it. May be a software problem. spent 50.00, spent 7, didn't get my .06 discount. I'm irritated and angry at false advertising.

Show your grocery receipt to the gas attendant if it didn't take the discount at the pump. I emailed Safeway Corp and told them I spent over the $50 and didn't receive my discount - they apologized, told me to take my receipt, I did, and got my discount. Being proactive usually helps. :)

I went to Sunoco one night and I was in a rush to get somewhere and NONE of the pumps worked or would take my debit card. I tried to get help and got none. I've joined your boycott before you knew you were boycotting!

Does the Sunoco have the same management as the previous Mobil station? I stopped going there a long time ago because their management is incompetent and uncaring.

Quite often the receipt printers on the Mobil pumps would fail and I'd have to go inside to get a receipt. When I'd ask for a receipt they'd act like it was a major inconvenience for them. My big van has a big gas tank, and even at last year's gas prices my average fill-up ran me $45.00. Because they considered printing a receipt for $45 to be too much effort, I took my business elsewhere.

The final straw was when a guy came in complaining that the car wash broke before it could rinse his car and it was streaked with soap. The manager said "come back tomorrow, it may be fixed by then". The guy asked what was going to be done about the soap currently dripping from his car onto the parking lot. The manager refused to do anything more than give him a coupon for a car wash. As the customer angrily proclaimed that he was never going to buy from them again, I made the same vow. There were five other people in line with me, and I hope they also made the same decision.

If Sunoco has different management than the Mobil, I'll be happy to check them out. If it is the same guys, then I'll continue to avoid them.

They may have the same local manager in the store, but the regional manager and higher have changed.

FWIW ... about the car wash, even if the guy was willing to help, all he could have done was point the guy to the water hose so he could rinse the soap.
If the system was broken, that's all he could have done.

If the store manager is the same, then my bet is the problem still persists.

The guy with the soapy car asked the manager if he could send someone outside to hose the soap off, but the manager refused. He then asked if the manager would re-imburse him for a car wash at another business, but the manager refused that too. He isn't good at dealing with customers.

In contrast, I was in The Original Steakhouse a few months ago and a new waitress accidently dropped my meal on my sleeve. She apologized, cleaned it up, and fetched a manager. He gave me a coupon for dry cleaning and took the meal off the bill. They handled the situation perfectly. Some places really do a good job with customer service.

I spent $50 and didn't get .06 off either. I went inside to talk to the guy working. The false advertising bothered me. He seemed to be familiar with this complaint. He figured out on a piece of paper how much change I should have saved, and gave it to me out of the cash register. I think it was like .46 cents. It's the principle of it.

Me too... although I have to enter my phone number because my card doesn't scan (at the store either). I don't have much luck in this department, I had a Safeway card for another store and that one wouldn't scan either. Maybe those of you having trouble could try entering your phone number at the pump?
