I'm in the process of trying to find a sushi place and searched the board a bit before posting. Many of the recommendations don't appear to be open anymore with the exception of Samurai Sushi. I realize Samurai has a bit of a following, but I just wasn't that impressed when I went. It's all about the fish and everyone has bad nights, so it's not like I'll never try it again though.

I admittedly am a bit of a sushi snob and I have eaten enough all over the world to know what I like. Anyone else have any other recommendations they have been frequenting recently? Thanks.

The sushi at Asian Spice in Brambleton is very good. I must admit that I was sceptical at first, 'non-Japanese' cuisine + sushi doesn't usually turn out well. But their sushi is excellent. My brother is a sushi snob, even he admitted that Asian Spice was delicious.

We will sometimes get carryout from Akira Japanese[IMG]‎ in Ashburn. Seems good to me but I'm not an expert, nor have I tried many sushi places around here. Price seems good for the quality. There was another we did not like but can't remember the name.

Probably falls in the average/above-average category compared to a place I went in LA that was supposed to be one of the best, but also that was fairly expensive. There was another place I liked in Santa Barbara that was good (they also had lobster rolls which were great), but also twice the price of Akira.

Head to Jasmine Sushi in Leesburg. It's in Market Station.

I must admit, I only like Sushi when it's cooked. But I do like tradition veggie sushi.

For me I love Samurai Sushi in the Broadlands Safeway shopping center. I am surprised no one has mentioned it yet. Friends of mine who like the fishy sushi love it.

Have to second Tachibana. Japanese owned and authentic traditional dishes along with excellent  spicy scallop rolls and sushi. I always save the eel for dessert - it's the best!

I love Tachibana too - they do have the best scallop rolls! There's a new sushi restaurant in Great Falls (near the Old Brogue) called Izumi. It's delicious! Also if you want great sushi carry out in Reston there's a place at Lake Anne called G Sushi - also really good and they have an awesome lunch special ($9 for 2 rolls/12 pcs. plus Shu Mi and miso soup or a salad).

If you find yourself in downtown DC near China Town - go here. DO it. You will not regret it.

Best sushi and thai / asian fusion I have ever ever eaten! Calamari salad is outstanding.
