Our Southern Walk home on Stone Hollow Drive has been a target for TPing and egging for the past three years. We were egged again at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday 11/19 and hit with a round of orange paintballs at 4:30 a.m. on the morning of 11/23. Hitting a house with a missle of any sort is considered a felony-so these pranks are getting serious. We believe this to be an act of teens, most likely from Briar Woods High School, where our children attend school. Our primary concern is to stop these incidents immediately, before it gets worse. If you have any information on either one of these incidents, please contact Steve at (703) 462-0688.

As this is an ongoing issue, I would suggest you invest in video cameras if you already haven't. Best of luck stopping the miscreants.

TPing is a prank. Egging and paintballs are vandalism as they cause permanent damage to property. We' were egged once a couple of years ago. Only thing I can figure is that we're on the corner and there's an easy escape route. We don't have kids who live at home anymore and haven't since right after we moved here. Our kids are both mid-20's so it wasn't a prank by kids they went to school with. It appeared to be totally random, but I'd much rather clean up toilet paper than eggs. We had to hire someone to clean it off our brick and trim. We called the non-emergency number for the sheriff's office and someone came by. All they can offer is more frequent drive throughs.

We don't live in Broadlands, but we're only a short distance away.

Agreed, we integrated our cameras into our outdoor lighting and it was a worthwhile investment.

Shortly after we installed several cameras the egging/paintball/bb-gun came to a near stop. Since then we have had very few incidents. But of the two we have had, I literally burned a copy of the footage and handed a DVD to the parents or deputy.

The added bonus, is it also works well with identifying dog walkers who do not pick up after their pet.

Before buying cameras you could try the motion sensor flood lights, it could scare them off. If it doesn't, you could then put in the cameras (which will have a much better picture with the flood lights on). The Logitech system (mentioned above) is what I would recommend as well, it gets great reviews and you can install yourself. You can see user videos of the system here: http://www.youtube.com/user/wilife

No. I only have one camera and it was focused on the front of the house.

Are paintball guns accurate? That's the real question.

Great Archers over here, we can handle a paint gun, with a little less accuracy but oh, what fun!

NoPE. but it's sadly been proven that if there's no video proof that you did it, you can get away with :sniper:dang near anything.

After what happened to us last night, I just plan to drag the body into the house and then call the cops.

So the latest is two kids, one on each side of Vestals Gap (between Claiborne and Springwell) pretending to have a rope or wire strung across the road forcing cars to stop until the driver realizes what's going on and continues on their way. This was happening around 5pm as at least 10 other kids on either side of the road were watching. Be careful driving as the next time it may be the real thing.

A Fairfax cop identified two kids last night (Monday night) around 3 am wondering the streets. If something happened to you let me know and I will connect you.
