I've got a 15 year old who is ready, willing and more than able to work but we can't find a job for her. All the restaurants we stop by and ask about work require kids to be at least 16 some 18.

Does anyone know of a place in the area (food industry or other) that will hire a mature, responsible 15 year old?

PS Babysitting does not interest her. She needs to be out in the workforce.

Try Meadows Farms.....I worked there in the day....of course that was a long time ago but I think I was younger than 16...though not by much. It isn't easy work.......but I knew I didn't want to do the food industry. If you are mature and responsible ....they definitely took care of you. It was a great place to work and except for the managers all the people I worked with were high school kids. The only draw back is that it is seasonal work but everything should be starting soon because I think they reopen in March.

Wegmans hires at age 15 for cashier and helping hands. I don't know if there are any openings, but the application is available online.

Would she be interested in helping out at a vet's office, kennel, or shelter? The job might be cleaning up after the animals but if she likes animals it's a different way to go than food service.

I don't know how old you have to be to work there but maybe she could bus tables at one of the retirement/over 55 residential communities? There are two of those off Gloucester in Ashburn Village - Wingler House and Ashby Ponds. I know they hire teenagers.

She might need to get a work permit from her school counselor as well.

I worked at a soap store in the mall when i was 15. i worked in food service when i was older, but sometimes patrons can be so mean in restaurants that i don't think a 15 year old should have to endure it!
what about go bananas? or a horse stable? or the movie theatre?
