Is anyone else experiencing a termite infestation in their home?? We've been in our house for over 10 years, and this is the first time it's happened to us. Whom can we use and about how much will it cost us to hire an exterminator?

    Thanks,
    Lisa

    I recommend http://www.superiortermite.com/

They are very common around here. Just one hint always use bagged mulch. Bulk mulch is infested with termites.

    Good Luck!

    Or avoid wood mulch altogether.

When we bought our house in 2003 the pest inspector found one termite in the mulch so the sellers had to get everything treated. Fast forward to 2010-I went to pick up my hose nozzle and a ton of termites fell out. I had Superior Pest come treat it- it was $500 with a one year warranty. The guy told me the stuff should work for about 5 years...

You convinced the last time you posted this weeks ago and just this afternoon (before reading this post) I scheduled service with Superior for stinkbugs and general quarterly pest service. In fact if you want to PM me your details (name etc) they are offering a $20 referral fee. It is because of your Glowing remarks that I made the call--especailly about the stinkbug-free fortress--Thank you!! :2thumbs:

How did you realize you had termites? I've only been in my townhouse a year, haven't had it inspected since the home inspection during buying process.

Looks like I should call this pest service

    Thanks

    Mike

    Mike,

I found the nasty way...there was a swarm of breeders coming in through underneath the front door. There was a noticeable number of them in our entryway and in our front living room. Of course, then we had exterminators in who did a more thorough inspection and found that we had some damage (not severe). Since these inspections are free, I would highly recommend you get one.

    Hope this helps,
    Lisa

This happened to me the other day but they didn't fall out - they swarmed my hand - eeeeeeekkkkkk! Except I think they were ordinary ants. But this spring and summer the little critters just aren't giving up so I may give Superior Termite a call.
