    Hello:

I was hoping to add some life to my kitchen w a tiled backsplash. Something set on the diagonal, tumbled old world looking tiles.

Does anyone know a rough estimate on how much it cost to have someone install tile? Like maybe 25-30 sq ft. Just a range would be nice.

We got ours done by Old World tile, materials and labor I think it was $2000. But it was tumbled marble, not tile.

Just a note about tile vs marble.

In my last house I finished the basement with a full bath and had tile installed. When looking into a tile contractor I had conversations with mutiple people about marble vs tile. They all said the same thing. Marble is porus unless it is sealed. Being porus, anything that gets on it will be absorbed and cannot be cleaned off. Just keep this in mind if you are interested in marble. Once stained, the stain will stay. This will not happen with normal tile.

Yeah, but with tile, you still have to seal it. For all application, shower, kitchen, backsplash, floor, etc. to resist stains you have to seal.

    Thu,
When you get an estimate or have it done and are happy with it, (or not happy, if that's the case) I'd like to know who you use. We'd like to have the same thing done....
