We have had several wasps coming into our house lately. I can't find a nest anywhere around the outside of the house. Is it early in the year for wasps?

I too have found several wasps inside the basement over the last few weeks. I've never had a wasp problem before and I'm not sure how they're getting in.

this is an annual event for us once we have a few warm days. We get 2-3 wasps seemingly out of nowhere in one particular window. I think they hibernate (?) in the wall somewhere.

Some types of wasps do indeed nest inside of walls. When the weather gets warmer, they begin to move around. The dead ones you are finding could be wasps removed from the nests by workers. Most bees and wasps have "trash piles" where they dispose of fellow wasps that are dead or have been attacked by pests. That might be what you are seeing.
