Our garbage can is FULL! I did not see anything in the December NL about trash pickup. I wouldn't think they'd pick up tomorrow, so does that mean we go all the way to Monday, the 29th?

    Re: VENTING

Now, I know recycling is NOT a requirement in Broadlands BUT why can't the county impose fees on residents who throw out tons of boxes on trash day? My neighbor never recycles, ever, and this morning they have just strewn boxes all over their curb without even breaking them down so they don't blow away! This is an ongoing problem with them and their trash. Mind you, they're the same folks who allow their dog to urinate and defecate on the deck.
Yes, the neighborly approach was tried to no avail.

I hate seeing that, too. If I were feeling brave, I would print the recycling requirements and tape them to their front door. In all seriousness, though, the HOA should be able to intervene as far as recycling rules.

That may not change until people pay for the amount of trash they put out. We used to have to pay per the size can we used and had to pay for special bags if we needed to put overflow trash out. Our family of 5 did pretty good with one 32 gallon can pick-up a week. Here where you have pick up 2 times a week and no limit to what you can put out, people will throw out more with the trash instead of recycling.

Is there any easy way to know which wrapping paper is recyclable? Also, the toy boxes with tape and plastic all over it? From what I can read, the really thin, cheap wrapping paper doesn't have enough fibers for recycling, does anyone know for sure?

I don't know for sure but I thought any wrapping paper was fine except for the shiny kind - like the fancy silver and gold paper.

Boxes from toys I pull the plastic parts off of and recycle the box and throw away the plastic. You don't have to be as obsessive about it as I am - you could just toss it all.
