Headed over for the first time tonight. Anything on the menu that stands out?

RIGuy, I can honestly say (IMO) that anything you choose will be absolutely superior.

They have interesting preparations of high quality ingredients, and the service is designed to make sure you are well cared for.

We will be there at lunch to celebrate my in-laws 50th anniversary!

    ENJOY!

I LOVE Tuskies and you will, too. Chef Patrick ROCKS!!!

I've ordered just about everything on the menu but my favorites are: the steak salad (medium rare), cream of mushroom soup and the corn chowder.

    Their burgers are great, too.

Whatever you order you will enjoy!!

    Please post a follow-up review.

We had excellent food tonight at "Tuskies." The calamari was outstanding, the crab/lobster fritters were excellent too -- no one had a bad or even mediocre meal. Pricing, however, was high, and while the food was very good, I am not sure it was as good as the prices would have dictated ($230 for 4 folks all told), especially since the atmosphere is "mid 1970's renovated mill." And, for that money, the portions should have been a bit more, i.e. if we had just spent $27 for what was on our entree plates we would have left hungry.

I view it as a special occasion place partly because of the pricing. I've lived here 10 years, and been there four times now. Every time I have been though it has been wonderful, and I think the atmosphere the service creates, plus the delicious food, makes it worth the cost.

I'm glad you enjoyed your meal, because the food really is awfully good, isn't it?

    ExRIGuy-
You're review echoes my sentiments exactly. Been there a few times and doubt I'll go back.

Don't get me wrong, I think Tuskies is a very good restaurant and have been several times and will certainly go again, but I will echo EXRIGUY's post. For the cost and quality of the meal, I would go to one of many other restaurants for that "upscale" feel before I would go to Tuskies.

I also meant to add that much of the clientele was older (outside of the bar area), quite a few "blue hairs" - which should concern them if younger folks are staying away, and when we left the place at 8:00 (Sat night) there were quite a few empty tables . . . as I said before, competition is changing things around here.

Everything there is superb! If you like a salad appetizer you must have the house salad, it's great. They change their menu seasonally but all the pasta dishes are very good.

RIGuy, they are usually crowded during the day--lots of lunch business. I think they also do a lot of event business as well.

As for the "bluehairs", go to any of the long-term restaurants in the county.

A former neighbor of mine (very nice woman in her mid-to-late twenties) had relatives come in from out of town. She planned a series of fun events around the county for them, so they could see the different things in Loudoun. After taking her guests to lunch at an established restaurant in a small historic town to our west which shall remain nameless, her comment was: "I don't think I've ever seen so many million year old white people in one place before in my life."

That's who can afford to patronize many of the services present in the richest county in the country!

i loved my lunch experience a the mill- they gave me a delicious truffle for my birthday, and recommended some fabulous dishes. i can't remember what they were right now but i know they were perfect, as was the service.

i really didn't care that the majority of other diners were much older than me- that was actually quite nice, dining where other people had good manners and spoke in tones meant for just their companions' ears...

for an upscale meal with a quaint atmosphere- definitely give it a try!
