I have an old tube TV that blew out this weekend. I had considered putting it out for the trash guys, but figured there must be a more environmentally friendly way to dispose of it. Does anyone know if there's a local recycling center that would take it?

    Re: TV Disposal/Recycling Info

You might try a web site for nationwide recycling that has links for ALL recycling concerns including TV(s). Just type what you wish to recycle and zip code and it will link to places for electronics, computers, and other recycling companies.

www.earth911.org (Earth 911's site/info for nationwide recycling info on TV(s), computers, and other hard-to-find places to recycle "stuff".)

www.pcrecycler.net has a monthly FREE recycling event everymonth. Anything that plugs in - they will take.

"a monthly FREE recycling event every month" is repetitivly redundant, isn't it?

I checked the website for the date of the next Drop Off Event (they're the second Friday and Saturday of each month) and noticed that TVs and hard drives have a $10 disposal fee. Much better than $50, though!

Odd. I dropped off BOXES of crap at Etech recycling in Chantilly, and they didn't ask for a red cent for any of it.

Perfect timing for this thread. I've got a old 21 inch CRT monitor that blew out some time ago.

Just closing the loop - I made the TV drop at pcrecycler this weekend. $10 to haul it away. They also do pickups for businesses looking to recycle old electronics. Great service!

    Thanks for the tip!

We too went to pcrecycler on Saturday to drop off 2 TVs and some other electronics. They were so organized and nice.
