Is there an up to date map that shows where all of the wonderful community resources are? I want the trail/bike paths, tot lots, pools, tennis courts, open spaces, etc. For all of the Broadlands , including Southern Walk. I'm finding that there are things I didn't know were there because I had never stumbled down the right path through the woods (or peaked past someone's back yard). The site plan on VM's website (also linked to HOA site) is no help for this.

BTW - I did mention this request in my online Van Metre survey :)

Well bummer - I guess that's a "no". I was looking forward to seeing one myself. What a good idea.

I'll check with the HOA office, but my guess is 'no'...

Now, that gives me an idea. Wouldn't creating something like this for the community be a great project for either a Boy/Girl Scout troop, or another group to put together? I think it would add a lot of value to our community, as well as enabling the group involved to get some great 'credit'!

Just a thought; anyone know if this would be feasible for a group to take on?

The HOa has asked Van Metre on numerous occasions about getting a map of the SouthernWalk trails. So far, haven't seen one.

It's too dark without the lights being on to make the map :)

This could be an excellent Eagle scout project for one of the local scout troops... map the trails and amenities, put them on a nice sign for the nature center and/or community center. Maybe a simple, interactive website as a subpage of the BHOA website, with permission of the tech committee... perhaps some pictures of "points of interest" on the trails so people can go sightseeing. :)
I thought about signposts along the trails saying "You are here" but all it will take is one lazy summer and some bored teens, and those will be history.
Plenty of opportunities in this idea for the local scouts.

Cliff - Good to know someone has asked. Sad, but not shocked, to hear it fell on deaf ears.

So if I put out two big bags of food for the scouts this weekend, can I get a copy of the map project??? :)

Seriously, if this isn't taken on by Scouts, why won't VM do it? I would think it would be a great peice of marketing material for new home sales and their Broadlands website. Maybe someone would find it in their heart to take this on for the HOA? I know there is always more ideas than volunteers.....

Well it would also lock VM in so if they decided to change things they would have to deal with this potential document coming back to bite them.

The last map that I have shows where our tot lot was supposed to be. Perhaps they stopped producing maps when home owners complained about all of the false advertising and broken promises*

*Note: this is not an indication that there are actual broken promises or allegations of false advertising. The author reserves the right to change this posting without notice. This is not an indication that anything has been done or will ever be done.

Heck, I would be satisfied with a map that shows the EXISTING spots/trails/paths/parks we have now. Yes, it would be GREAT to see what is planned where, but I understand that commitment can be scary for some folks (almost as scary as following through on promises!).

Neighbor - where did you get the map you have and any idea how long ago it was produced?
