Waxpool Road

I am so tired of the manual labor on Waxpool road. It has been 4+ years and I have yet to see any improvement. Why is it taking so long?

 

What part of Waxpool are you talking about:

From Rt 28 to Farmwell Hunt Road ?/
Farmwell Hunt Road to the left turn at Faulkner Pkwy?
Faulkner Pkwy to Truro Parish ?
Truro Parish to Rt 659 (Belmont Ridge) ?

In every case where there is work being done, there is a development of some sort under construction, and each developer (for the most part) is responsible for that area of the road. So, until the developments at old Ryan Road and Shellhorn are finished, Waxpool thru to Broadlands will not be done.

I think he probably means the stretch of Waxpool between the Ice House and AOL/Wegmans.

It's been a nightmare trying to get through there during the day anymore. The other day it took me over an hour to go to the post office and back (and the line wasn't that long!). They've had it closed to one lane heading towards 28 and it's almost caused tons of accidents because people try to make a u-turn and there isn't room.

Makes one wonder if the construction company is in cahoots with the Greenway operators?

 

Aha ... that stretch ... well, they're in the final phases of widening and paving that area and finishing the interchange.

They're finishing off the ramp from Waxpool to 28 south, there is still the flyover to be finished, then there's the loop ramp from 28 South to Church Rd east.

Once they finish the flyover, they're going to have to have the Waxpool widening done to handle that traffic and the traffic coming off Church Rd.

The original schedule has the project being finished in the fall of this year. It may actually open earlier, as long as there are no weather delays.

If you only have to get to the post office, you can take the back way by Home Depot. Make a left onto Loudoun County Parkway and you can go straight through the light to get to the post office.

This trick doesn't help if you need to go to Wegmans, though!
