I witnessed an accident at Truro Parrish/Waxpool while driving home from dropping my son off at Eagle Ridge this morning. That intersection is terrible in the morning, with people speeding on Truro Parrish/Waxpool, school buses trying to get to their high school routes, patrons of the gas station or Dunkin Donuts leaving, etc. It's also pretty dangerous for the kids walking/riding their bikes to and from school in the morning and afternoon (even though I thought ERMS wasn't to be a walker's school for those across the road; kind of hard to enforce) .

Is there any plan to put a stoplight at that intersection?

Yes. Belmont Ridge from Broadlands Blvd. to Truro Parish is, last I heard, supposed to be widened to 4 lanes in the next year or so. Part of that project will include installation of a traffic light at BRR/TP.

Cliff, I think she was asking about a possible light where Truro Parrish turns into Waxpool by the Dunkin Donuts and the gas station. Any thoughts on that?

Gotcha...you're right. There is one planned, but has had little money put aside for it. I'm also guessing it may be a while before the traffic volume warrants one.
I agree that am/pm school times it is bad there, but is otherwise fine, in my experience.

yeah, its just anytime there is an accident (there was one in the morning last week there) - we get the 'wheres the traffic light?!?!' questions.

Cliff, thanks for the information. I tried to google to get the info, but got frustrated after a while.

I've often wondered if they were going to put a light there, especially after Eagle Ridge opened up, but the 911 call I had to make Thursday morning after the accident is what really motivated me to ask about it.
