Saw this headline on the internet and thought they were talking about that minuteman-missle-looking thing next to the water tower near Brambleton: Missile Launcher Installed in D.C. Suburb... LOL Turns out this one's in Bethesda. http://www.drudgereport.com/flash1.htm

Could that thing just be the innards of another water tower?

    Dutchml,
That's the second water tower being built but it does look a bit like the Redstone missile (check out the one at the Udvar-Hazy center).

It's the Broadlands anti-BRMC defense system being installed by LHC to keep BRMC out of Broadlands. Sorry, I had to...[}:)]

Speaking of odd looking things around here. I have got to know what those storage looking like buildings are behind Home Depot, off the toll road, near exit 6??? They are unmarked. Can anybody solve this for me? :)

they were data centers for financial services firms like Visa. however, with the dotcom bust and cheaper real estate elsewhere most of the buildings are vacant.
rumor is that homeland security was going to lease them, but it's just a rumor.
personally i think they would make a great night club :)

Thanks! My imagination was thinking that maybe there something with the CIA or maybe even a Frankenstein factory :) But, a night club- what a great idea! Night clubs don't need windows! We need a night club or two out here.

Actually I noticed something interesting the other day while driving on Belmont Ridge Rd. I looked over at the two water towers in Broadlands North and noticed one of them with a huge rolling metal door on the side of it at the base.

Granted I don't really know water tower design, but it seemed kind of strange to me to have a huge rolling metal door on a "water tower". Anyone else notice this?

    WesGurney-
They built a water pressure boosting station in the base of the water tower so those of us up here on the hill would have water pressure.

    Ahh, ok, that explains it.

And to think I was beginning to believe there was some secret storage area or underground HOA base inside them. Whew!
