For any of those that have a front door with a large (mine is half size) window on the front door what did you put on it? I've read about some tints but i heard they only offer privacy in daylight, as of now the blinds person is thinking of doing a shutter mounted on the door (which is a bit pricy but also a bit "chunky").

Hi, One idea you might try...Home Depot sells rolls of film you can apply to glass. It's inexpensive and gives some privacy, but allows the light to come in. We used this in a couple basement windows several years ago at a different house and had good results. There are several designs (vines, lace, rice paper, etched...) to choose from and it is pretty inexpensive in case you do not care for the look but might be worth a try?
    An example: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...3&langId=-1&keyword=window film&storeId=10051

Ditto the previous poster - I put a privacy film that I got from Bed Bath & Beyond on the long windows on either side of my door. It looks great and offers both light and privacy.

We painted ours with a glaze. Still lets the sunlight in and makes it so you can't look right in. We picked it up at Michaels and took an hour or so to do.....

We installed the Gila frosted vinyl from Home Depot, you don't need the $9 install kit, if you have a squeegee, spray bottle and X-acto knife. Just put a drop of dish washing soap in a spray bottle of water to make the surface slippery enough to squeegee out the air bubbles.

You won't see anything in or out yet still have light. It is quite a change from what we had before. They have designs with patterns that allow more visibility, those may be a better option than the completely frosted appearance.

The large Gila 4'x6.5' kit covered both our side windows and the round oval window on the door. There is enough excess to do a small window above the door if you have that option.

Measure twice cut once - use a new/sharp X-acto blade.
