Yes, it is a Luna moth, and one of the most beautiful creatures of the night. Lucky you to have spotted one.

LUCKY?!? it scared the crap outta me! i went thru my garage to get into my house- did NOT want that thing tangled up in my hair weave... lol

it was pretty neat looking but I do NOT do well with flying/crawling creatures. my skin crawls. i hope it flew away before whatever Superior sprays around my house "got" to it...

When I lived in CA, a neighbor caught a large moth like that. I don't remember the name, Luna doesn't sound familiar but it could have been. We called a place and got information about it. We were told it only lives about 3 days. All the neighborhood kids got together to watch it get released. As we let it go (and all the kids watching), a large bird swooped out of the sky and grabbed the moth. Nice unintended circle of life teaching moment for all the kids!

When I was younger, my sister had a baby bat fly into her hair. She was screaming but my parents and grandparents kept telling her it was a moth to help her calm down.

HAHAHAHAA :pofl: I love that memory!
