Yes they do close Labor Day. My husband and I have often said that down here, the pools could really stay open longer, but I understand with high school/college students, it would be hard to do.

It's too bad that the pools do close on Labor Day. I just had a conversation the other day with Andre, and we talked about how nice it would be to have the pools open until October with the same kind of hours as when they open Memorial Day and school is still in session. He seemed to think that it could be possible. Has there ever been any talk or thought about trying this?

    My 0.02..

It's going to cost lots of money to do so - and you can't just say 'well open it if its nice out' - you'd have to commit to the labor and operational costs up front. So you'd be spending significant money for time that is highly suspect if people could take advantage of it.

I could see the notion of keeping one pool open longer - that would be a compromise I think - but it would still be pretty significant if you add a full month of operation to a pool. Realize.. that's almost 33% more operational time.

Yes the HOA has looked into keeping the pool open later. However after Labor day the cost of the guards increases substantially as does the cost of the chemicals. As I remember each added week we would keep the pool open would cost the HOA over $30,000. At that price the board did not feel the benefit was worth the cost. Additionally by Aug 1st the pools are virtually empty so we do not see the demand.

It is obvious by the answers that this has been well thought out and discussed before. A girl can dream though! I missed very few days at the SW pool this year and have enjoyed it so much that it is hard to see it end :) Thank you for the answers!
